Yeah, it's been a long process getting accepted, but he has been. He was supposed to do the first of a six week this summer, but so many candidates have applied — they ran out of beds. Since he wasn't able to do the two six week sessions, he will now do one ten week. He's pumped.

I hope it's everything he prays it will be and then some. Those candidates that returned this summer and accepted their commissions said they'd never, ever want to go through it again, but they are so contented that they did.

I was stunned to see the level of educational background of those who went. Three were in law school at St. Louis U, two were in law school at Washoo, the rest were Bachelors’ and Masters’ degree holders. And to think John Kerry said if you don't get your education — all that's left is the Army. What a jerk!

he will now do one ten week.

Ten weeks is the way to go. The Corps packs a lot of crap into those ten weeks. But none is personal. As long as he is in good condition for the pull ups and running he should be good. Having skin is helpful too. When the classes are full like that surviving the first direct encounter with the staff is key. You may not have another direct encounter for a week. Helps one get over the culture shock.
