Above is the exact wording of the Wash Post 9/6/5/2008 editorial cartoon. Yesterday on the campaign trail, just before Obama made the infamous 'lipstick on a pig' remark, he stole Tole's line in his remarks. I’ve watched numerous repeats of this part of his comments and until I read this post I thought he was (mentally) searching for examples of the McCain-Palin positions that weren’t really change at all...but, now I see his struggle was trying to remember the exact examples he was stealing from the political cartoon.

He later repeated the quip and stated it originated with Toles. However, it was on a show with no audience (Countdown with Keith Olbermann), so it may as well have been unsaid.

I listened to the clip and yesterday at the rally I did not hear him refer to Toles before he made that comment. Maybe it was cut and that part was not included, but what I heard on the radio had nothing about Toles.
