Obama: Palin playing gender card
Chicago Trib ^ | 9/9/08 | Mike Derling

The Barack Obama campaign accused their Republican opponents of a "pathetic attempt to play the gender card" tonight with the McCain campaign's demand that Obama apologize for a remark made earlier in the evening.

Obama used a "lipstick on a pig" metaphor this evening as he tried to tell voters why they shouldn't believe John McCain and Sarah Palin when they say they represent change.

"Enough is enough," Obama senior adviser Anita Dunn said in a statement e-mailed to reporters

"The Mc Cain campaign's attack tonight is a pathetic attempt to play the gender card about the use of a common analogy - the same analogy that Senator McCain himself used about Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's health care plan just last year," she continued. "This phony lecture on gender sensitivity is the height of cynicism and lays bare the increasingly dishonorable campaign John McCain has chosen to run."

Let this one drop, McCain used the “lipstich on a pig” line himself a year or so ago. No story here.

Obama could have easily said, “A pitbull with lipstick...” Instead, he flubbed it.

By the way, why are Democrats suddenly using the word “cynical” instead of dishonest?

Obama sure is luggin’ a load in his Huggies! He does need a “change.” The box says those diapers are only good up to “15 to 25 lbs.”

Obama has lost it. Here we are less than 60 days before the election, and I still don’t know what his position is on taxes. Instead, he’s trying to convince us that Palin is a pig.

McCain wasn't even close to using the expression in reference to Hillary!. This comment comes on the heels of Palin making a reference to lipstick. Anyone who thinks that this was an innocent comment by Obama, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you that spans the East River in New York. He is playing dumb but it just makes him look dumb and sleazy. Obama is a pig.

After an overextended primary listening to Hillary, and then the PUMAs, I’m supposed to think Palin is playing the gender card?

Sorry Hussein, you lose.

Palin just gave you an eswhipping using “lipstick” - and it’s being played continually and talked about too. That’s why your comment isn’t going to wash.

Everyone sees thru it but you... [cue emperor comment re no clothes]

No story here.

That kind of thinking is why the GOP is once again a minority party.

Nothing drops, and beat these red sons of bitches over the head with a PR shovel until they slither back down the slimy marxist holes they crawled out of.

Keep up the attacks on that woman, Obama! You're doing a heckuva job!

To the contrary. Yes, the expression is as old as the hills.

But you would have to have been living in a cave the last two weeks to not make the connection with Sarah Palin.

At the very least this shows a many who can’t edit his own words. And that’s dangerous.

The people there knew it was a reference to Palin. Sorry, but let the chips fall where they may on this. Obama cannot spin his way out of this.
