It will be interesting to see how this flies. I do think the McCain campaign should avoid showing too much outrage or offense, but simply point out that it shows Obama as juvenile and undisciplined.

Stay above fray, let this play its course in the public eye, and let the polls adjust. Palin will get her day in the sun later in the week in Alaska, and it should be a nice contrast to this pathetic nonsense.

Yeah, I think the campaign needs to keep some distance while still demanding apologies etc. But maybe Governor Palin herself should take a dig with a smile, say something like “I said a pitbull, Senator Obama, a PITBULL.”

Put him on the spot, but without any hint of complaint or whining from Sarah Palin. She could skewer him on this with a smile, and he will be humiliated. Then maybe the MSM will start talking about it.

That would put some pressure on while treating it deftly.... it generally cannnot do any good for Rs to scream and yell about it b/c the MSM is mainly looking for how to protect Obama, especially now that he is flailing. They will never do what they did to George Allen unless the pressure explodes first from the blogosphere, etc. Few in the MSM will ever willingly take this seriously without enormous, irresistible pressure that has to build.
