I agree with your sentiment completely. McCain is not my ideal candidate, but I’ll take him over Obama any day.

Obama makes McCain look good, McCain is still no good. I'll now vote for him after the Palin pick but I'll push for Jack Kevorkian as Presidential Physician. My underlying point is that our Constitution has been rendered meaningless after our 2nd, and first liberal, President (packing the courts after his loss to Jefferson), appointed Marbury, of Marbury v. Madison, to the federal court. Liberalism doomed our Republic from the beginning.

John Adams was honorable and irreplaceable in the American Revolution, as a President, he stunk.

We have been building on this for 200 years to the point that, for example, a "Department of Education" can exist at the federal level after any honest reading of the Constitution.

It restricts certain advertisements within the month leading up to elections.

Well gosh, we need to kick the son-of-a-bifch responsible for something like that right out of office.

Do you know who agrees with us: JOHN MCCAIN!

Campaign Finance Reform was a fairly mechanical bill which revised previous limits and sought to limit "soft money" donations to parties. Snow and Collins added an amendment that prevented unions and corporations from "electioneering" with ads that mentioned a name close to an election. That was a bit dubious but unions and corporations were state created entities with special priveleges and the regulations were well within Constitutional limits.

At the last minute Senator Wellstone cobbled together another amendment that extended prohibition to "non-profits" ie. the NRA. This is the infamous "Wellstone Amendment". Everyone thought that it was unconstitutional, including John McCain. He fought against it and voted against it.

The vote was close but it passed due to the support from MITCH MCCONNEL AND TRENT LOTT. In trying to preserve their thiefdoms they were looking for a poison pill for the Supreme Court to find unconstitutional and strike down the bill.

Unfortunately for them the bill was made severable (if one part were held unconstitutional the others would remain standing). AND THEN THE COURT FOUND THE BASICS OF THE CFR (INCLUDING THE WELLSTONE AMENDMENT) CONSTITUTIONAL.

Everyone was shocked, including McCain. The dirt-for-brains conserbatibes had breached the First Amendment by trying to be too cute by half.

And now you know the rest of the story.

So if McCain was fooled (which I doubt), then Bush, who signed it, is the one who should be hung for treason...(and those who voted for it and the Judges who allowed it...for which I agree).

Don’t you just love YouTube? It amazes me what’s out there. Another instance of the new media uncovering what the old media won’t show!

McCain wasn't fooled, he knew exactly what was going on. It was an attempt to scuttle CFR. The Republican crooks were openly reaching across the aisle and working with the Democrat crooks. No one, President Bush included, thought that the Wellstone Amendment would be upheld by the Supreme Court. That is why he signed it and that is what he mentioned when he signed it.

McCain fought it all the way.

Maybe it wasn’t right for one to sign off on something one doesn’t agree to. Passing the blame onto the SC isn’t a form of leadership that inspires confidence in me. In the end, I bet we both agree that Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness means far less now than it used to.

Instead of telling the RNC donation calls to ?call me when you guys start acting like winners? I actually have begun donating again.

Funny. That's almost exactly what I used to say, except mine was "call me when you guys start acting like Republicans."

I like it. They document the bill that he voted on and got passed. People can look it up themselves.

“All of you all blathered endlessly how McCain would be be a wuss and pull the “new tone” crap have got BIG TIME MEA CULPA’S to do.”

Yup. We do.

I am not a supporter of Sen. McCain and probably never will be; just too much water under that bridge. From a political strategy perspective, however, I am impressed. Ever since the week he nominated Gov. Palin, he and his team have been playing this just masterfully. The opposition doesn’t know what hit them. Age and guile win again.
