Absolutely bang on Jim!

Any conservative worth their salt would have doubts about John McCain before, during and after the primary season, and none of us were very pumped up about McCain becoming the nominee.

Enter Governor Palin.

This VP choice speaks volumes, and what it says is that John McCain believes that if for some reason he is unable to carry out his duties as Commander-in-Chief, that this iron-spined American Thatcher is not only up to the task, but has the character to excel as our President.

I had doubts about her experience level when it was nothing but speculation about McCain’s VP selection, but what I have seen thus far from her reassures me, I am confident in what she brings to the ticket, and as you said Jim, the selection of Governor Palin signals the resurgence of conservatism within the Republican Party.

The Vice President of the United States is positioned from the beginning of their term to not only step up to the Presidency if need be, but to carry the banner of their Party at the end of the President’s term, if they so wish.

Truman, Johnson, Nixon, Bush Senior, all first served as VP before reaching the White House. There is no reason to believe that Governor Palin would be unable to follow in their footsteps.

Will there be issues we continue to disagree on regarding John McCain? Sure, and that is to be expected. But what ought to be reassuring us is that with his selection of Sarah Palin, John McCain is sending a signal that he sees the future of the GOP as being that of Palinism, which at this early stage has all the promise of being as vital and dynamic as Reaganism.

I’m on board.
