When I saw the video, it was obvious his comment was being taken out of context and people were hearing only what they wanted to hear. This is not the gotcha we’ve been waiting for!
I agree. We don't want to be like the Kos kids.
I agree with you!!!!!!
It makes us look stupid.
i saw the whole clip and your right way out of context. I despise obama but this is exactly what he was talking about.
I”m sure i’ll get flamed but it was just a confusion in how steffy phrased the questions and obama even went on to clarify.
Ok
What was he trying to say?
I agree with both of you. We don’t need to stoop to the RATs’ level. We have enough that is positive to focus on and Barry will probably step in it real good all on his own before too long.
Well then obviously Stephanopoulos took him out of context too, because he felt compelled to point it out and correct him on it.
I don't know. I listened to the context, and it is true that he was talking about people calling him muslim in radio talk shows, but McCain hasn't said anything directly. But to say a line like "...it's true that McCain hasn't said anything about my Muslim faith..." instead of something to distance himself from calling himself a Muslim is quite a gaffe. Why didn't he say "my supposedly being a Muslim" or "McCain hasn't spoken about me being a Muslim"? Either of those would never have had the interpretation that "my Muslim faith" does.
If you think that it shouldn't have been interpreted as a gaffe at all, then why did Stephanopoulus immediately correct him?
I agree - this was taken out of context.
However, his failure to answer the question in a clear and concise manner makes me wonder about the number of ulcers in his inner circle.
All the nuance, lawyer speak, and convoluted answers are hurting him. He created this “issue” and it’s being discussed now.
It is obvious why they do not want more debates.
Oddly, DUers disagree with you.
They are quite distraught over his snafu.

The list of gotchas is about a mile long, when exactly is the “ONE” gonna be?
Then why did he accept Steph correcting him hmmm???
I watched the video and recognized that Obama probably misspoke, but it took Stephanopoulos to prompt his correction. On the other hand, if McCain misspoke about something this sensitive, the democrats and media (please excuse the redundancy) would make a large fuss, and make McCain burn up campaign time clearing up the misunderstanding. Republicans have paid dearly for trivial gaffes. This gaffe is more serious than misspelling "potato" or using the word "macaca".
Obama is way more gaffe-prone than was Dan Quayle. This is only one of many. We should make Obama into a joke.
It forces Barry to spend time refuting it, and it raises the "Muslim" issue without John McCain having to utter a word.
It also makes the debates MUCH more fun to look forward to!
why did Stephanopoulos correct him if it was in context? that's what i don't get...
