Unless something big happens between now and the election, I really think that the PUMAs/Hillary supporters will have a bigger impact than many of the Dims want to believe. I believe it was Geraldine Ferraro that at one point said about 1/3 of them may go to McCain - others have said maybe 1% or 10%. Whatever the %, it’s still more votes for Mc and less for 0. Others may just stay home because they don’t want to vote for the big 0, but can’t quite bring themselves to vote R, so there’s less votes for 0.
It’s been interesting for me to read the comments and see how supportive they are of Palin and McCain, and, some comments that say that for years the Dims have been telling them how bad the Pubbies are, but, in fact, they’ve found them to be quite nice, and, while they disagree w some of their policies, they actually agree w some of them!
Brit Hume made a comment, that VP candidates bring a state or a set of skills or experience needed by the Presidential candidate. He said, to his knowledge, Sarah Palin is the first VP candidate that has impacted every aspect of a presidential candidates campaign across the entire nation.
Hume is right, I think. Sarah Palin has impacted the McCain campaign beyond the wildest beliefs. The concern Hume, and others, have now is whether this will hold of if something can derail her VP campaign.
Time will tell and my bet’s on Sarah, but her entrance certainly has risen the entire debate.
