If Bishops in Maryland and Delaware aren’t as observant as the Bishop of San Francisco, things have come to a pretty pass.
I don't know about that Bishop of San Francisco. He waited an awfully long time to come out with a statement. (He might have finally received a call from Rome that he had to do something.)
Now that a Catholic candidate for US VP has tried to throw the issue into doubt once again, there might be some calls from Rome to the Bishops in Maryland and Delaware that a statement from them about the church's position would be imperative.
