McCain's actual position on border security

Actions speak louder than words. The McCain-Kennedy Immigration Reform Bill speaks clearly of his position since he's the co-author. McCain-Kennedy establishes an illegal alien worker visa program. It is, in effect, an amnesty--which undercuts the rule of law by rewarding those who have acted wrongly and will only encourage further illegal entry.

Obama or NObama, McCain need to answer for this and the McCain-Feingold violation of 1st Amendment rights. Here, McCain IS working for himself and is NOT working for the American people.

"How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg? Four. Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg." ..... Abraham Lincoln

How the hell can a guest worker have a visa and be "illegal" at the same time?

How the hell does establishing a guest worker program constitute "amnesty".

The U.S. had such a guest worker program during World War II and up until 1964.

Bracero Program

When I was in the Navy and stationed at Guantanamo, such a program existed for Jamaican workers. Rather than have sailors and Marines mowing lawns and slinging SOS at the mess halls, Jamaican guest workers would be brought in on yearly contracts to do such jobs in order to free up our sailors and Marines for their essential military duties.

The Jamaicans eagerly signed up for the guest worker program.

They were flown to Guantanamo by the Navy and they earned their money.

After their contract was over, they eagerly went back home to their families and friends in Jamaica to spend their money.

If they wanted more money, they signed up for another contract.

Rinse and repeat.

What, exactly, is so horrible about such a program?

By blindly calling anything and everything "amnesty" and opposing it, you are making it impossible for farms to acquire labor to harvest crops. Since the crops can't be left to rot in the fields, laws are now ignored.

In effect, your "not a single Mexican without a Green Card in the U.S." position enables the lawlessness you want to eliminate as not even Ronald Reagan supported the consequences of such an uncompromising position.

“One thing is certain in this hungry world; no regulation or law should be allowed if it results in crops rotting in the fields for lack of harvesters.” ..... Ronald Reagan, 1977
