I’ve listened to the talking heads since the speech ended, and I’ve got to totally disagree with them. My thirty or so years in preaching says that McCain knocked this out of the park and into the river.

I think this was an awesome speech. I think it was the best speech of the entire convention...to include Rudy’s and Palin’s last night.

What struck me about it was the personal emotion and personal committment in it. Rudy used humor. Palin used wit. John McCain displayed raw, real, human emotion. His pace was good, his voice was good, his inflection was excellent. What he did, though, that the others didn’t do was show where his heart is really at. I believe the sincerity in that speech was the most real of anything I’ve heard since Ronald Reagan. I always felt I was dealing with a true believer with President Reagan, and I had no doubt again tonight.

John McCain is sold out for America.

Bingo.

He really connected there at the end. I may not agree with everything he will do on domestic issues, but will feel safe knowing he is our Commander-in-Chief.

It was a much more serious tone. I think there was an air about the speech that sent home the message that these are not the times in which we can take our enemies for granted. He spoke of "evil", something that liberals think only applies to patriotic traditional americans.

Honestly if Sarah Palin had not cleared the bases last night, this could have been a grand slam, but unfortunately last night the bases were cleared by Sarah Palin. Tonight's speech was a home run, but it only scored one run.

FWIW, there is nothing notable or historical about Obama's much touted speech. I can't remember anything other than the fact that he promised to steal about 20% more of my paycheck and give it to God knows who. I also remember the jumbotrons and the Roman Pillars. I honestly can't remember anything about Joe Biden's speech at all. To be honest, I really can't even remember if I watched it at all. I think I might have, but it was obviously forgettable.

McCain's last few lines spoken over the cheers of the crowd will be a memorable moment.

I am optimistic, but I still realize that as a nation, we do not deserve God's grace. We have not earned it. We have aborted 50 million innocent babies in the last 35 years and I can only pray that God will grant us mercy rather than judgment.

America is a democracy and as such we will get the government we as a people ask for and vote for.

This is a crossroad. The republican ticket is a solid pro-life ticket. We as a nation are being tested. Let us pray that we do not fail this test.

I’ve listened to the talking heads since the speech ended,

The PBS folks generally said it was great. I was stuned, I tell ya. Except for Maxi Shields. He's seen better.

Ann Curry briefly was allowed to report on NBC and said that from her perspective in the floor, many were crying in the audience......and I don’t think just GOP people were doing that.

The end of his speech just totally got me......I am fully on board now.....for McCain, not for Palin, but for him, too.
