The ratings show this is when he will probably get his biggest audience. He needed to speak out now or they won’t hear it. I’d love a party speech, but the reality is there are a whole lot of Americans who would have found that a turn off.

McCain was specific about his agenda, delivered it in an acceptable manner with a really strong ending, and will be a great Commander in Chief. Yes, there are issues. But we have more in common than we do differences.

I think the speech was aimed at the swing states....

Yes, and given the fact that I am quite confident that Palin will have no problem stepping in and, privately, teling him he’s wrong about something, I can stomach the less appealing aspects. A strong showing in the congressional races would go a long way to that as well. Personally, I think if they put Palin out there as much as she can tolerate, we have an outside chance of sweeping Congress as well.

He’s right on the issues that will be the most important in the coming years, and we’ll have enough clout to steer him in the right direction as well. The future looks awesome, even if it’s a second choice at the top for the present. I agree, it’s an acceptable second choice.

Especially since we cannot afford to have Obama as President on any level.
