He didn’t rally as well as Palin, but that wasn’t the mission tonight. He talked about Washington corruption and laid out some ways to fight it, spoke movingly about his POW experience and laid out some policy stuff. He talked about plans for school choice, which I think is a great idea because now Obama gets to tell us why poor black kids should go to schools that don’t even teach them to read.

A great line: “My country saved me.” H also said that his POW years were a case of being “blessed by misfortune” because they made him a better man.

Krauthammer is calling it a very successful speech.

Those of you out there bloviating have to understand we cannot win this election on the conservative base alone, we NEED to win over indies and some dems, and Mccain did it right tonight, even Charles Krauthammer said that a few minutes ago, he said that the base is secure and now he has to go for those in the middle and he thinks that McCain has a successful start after that speech. Now is the time to stand behind the man as your alternative is Obama.
