Governor Sarah Palin has launched a slashing counterattack on her critics, telling the Republican convention that she had accepted an invitation to be Senator John McCain's running mate to serve the American people, not to win "the good opinion" of her detractors.

re: Tennessee and other “swing” states..... just posted this on another thread but it’s highly relevant here: I think that she could make the McCain/Palin ticket really have “coattails” for bringing more Rs into Congress. Just imagine how many congressional districts she will speak in during the next two months, mainly “swing” districts I expect, and she will simply crush the district’s Demagogue candidate. I don’t want to get too carried away, but I can imagine she could make a difference of a few points at least, especially districts with the more corrupt and/or entrenched and complacent Demagogues. If she could take out the dominant and well-entrenched Murkowski machine in Alaska by 30+ points as a virtual unknown, imagine what she could do while campaigning even briefly in a lot of “swing” congressional districts.
The movie line is actually a quote attributed, historically, to Chingghis Quan. John Milius [the director] seems to be a big Mongol fan. He used a history lesson about the great hunt for the opening of “Red Dawn”.
The script writer for “Conan the Barbarian” was, believe it or not, Oliver Stone.
