Excerpts: Remarks by Alaska Governor Sarah Palin Vice Presidential Nominee to Address the 2008 Republican National Convention
SAINT PAUL, Minn. - This evening Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican Partys vice presidential nominee, will address the 2008 Republican National Convention. Excerpts from the governors remarks, as prepared for delivery, are below.
On her experience as a public servant:
"I had the privilege of living most of my life in a small town. I was just your average hockey mom, and signed up for the PTA because I wanted to make my kids public education better. When I ran for city council, I didnt need focus groups and voter profiles because I knew those voters, and knew their families, too. Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown. And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities."
On why she is going to Washington, D.C.:
"Im not a member of the permanent political establishment. And Ive learned quickly, these past few days, that if youre not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone. But heres a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: Im not going to Washington to seek their good opinion - Im going to Washington to serve the people of this country."
On energy policies that the McCain-Palin administration will implement:
"Our opponents say, again and again, that drilling will not solve all of Americas energy problems - as if we all didnt know that already. But the fact that drilling wont solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all. Starting in January, in a McCain-Palin administration, were going to lay more pipelines...build more nuclear plants...create jobs with clean coal...and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal, and other alternative sources. We need American energy resources, brought to you by American ingenuity, and produced by American workers."
On John McCain:
"Heres how I look at the choice Americans face in this election. In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change."
There is a God.
She was on-the-mark without being overly lusterous. Very professional, business-like, to the point. She was not promoting just herself, she was showing her dedication and McCain's dedication to the job at hand...the way a corporate executive speaks to get things moving and done. I loved it. But then, I had no doubts about Sarah...she had been my pick since her name was first whispered and I read up on her. What a rising star of hope for our country!
Yep - she hit quite a few out - but that one went out of the park, over the river, and throughout this great land as a homerun, fireworks generating, election winning line!
There are those that have recently placed bets that Gov. Palin would withdraw from this race. Tonight they just lost that bet! SARAH ISN’T GOING ANYWHERE EXCEPT TO WASHINGTON!
Iheard that the McCain campaign told Palin that the scrutiny she would face would be tough. Her reply was to say “Do you know what the difference is between a pit bull and a hockey mom...Lip Stick!!!
This is exactly what we need. Someone that can respond quickly and effectively in the mold of Reagan.
I jumped over to MSNBC for a minute and watched Andrea Mitchell interview Rudy Guiliani. I never saw her in such a state of both shock and fear. She was literally shaken.
Go Sarah Go!
HOME RUN !!!!!!!!!!! BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOOM BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!
“Im sorry... Im not getting the community organizer dig. Can some one explain”
Building Engineer = janitor
Administrative Associate = clerk
Sales Consultant = sales girl
Community Organizer = hangs around in front of the drug store
got it?
Good thing they got those styrofoam columns back to Hollywood.
Palin the Paladin absolutely CRUCIFIED Barack Obama tonight.
Out of the park!! I think I’m in love ;^)
Well, suffice it to say, Sarah Palin just did to Barack Obama what Jesse Jackson said he wanted to do (dont be surprised if the Im Barack Obama and I approve this message line is a little high pitched in upcoming commercials).
Hope everyone noticed how ABC cut into shots of the teleprompter twice, something that is never done. But even they saw how impressive she was.
Folks, John McCain just won the election tonight.
Go Sarah Go!
The Leftists have a good reason to fear. Tonight they saw the woman who will make history and will chew up and spit out Biden. THEY have reason to fear!
And I can picture Sarahcuda putting lipstick on the pitbull !!! LOL
I was flipping channels too.
I started on FOX News that didn’t sway from her face and the podium. MSNBC kept showing the teleprompter and showing the back view as if to say “hey, she reads off the teleprompter like Obama”. WCBS-TV channel 2 in NY cut away to show a protestor being lead away.
Didn’t anyone else notice that stuff?
The 2 lady execs were good, the lady Gov. of Hawaii was good, Mitt and Rudy were great.
AND......SARAH WAS MAGNIFICENT!!!YES,YES, YESSSSS!!!!
Obama/Biden = Toast. Stick a fork in ‘em. Landslide coming.
I enjoyed your homepage very much.
And I went for the pics, LOL
