The Palin selection may have caused a slight drop, but it’s done wonders in firing up the passions of conservatives. No other pick (at least none of the more notable ones: Romney, Pawlenty, or Lieberman) could have had this much of a positive effect on the core conservatives.

Just how this translates in other numbers remains to be seen- but the selection of Palin has an upside like no other one did. Her speech tonight, and her performance in the debate will be critical.

Exactly, and look at this from Rasmussen:

Fifty-two percent (52%) of Americans have a favorable opinion of Palin.

Now, with all that crap that’s been thrown at her since last Friday, I think that’s pretty damn good.
