I remember living in Europe in the early '80s. They were rooting for and cocksure Gary Hart was going to win.

I've seen articles where Obama is said to be loved by the Europeans.

Their conservatives are our liberals. Their commie/socialists/traitor/bastards are our Rat Party (formerly the traditional, patriotic Democratic Party).

The McGovern / Eagleton comparison is a good one. McGovern was made a fool for backing Eagleton "1000 percent" then abandoning him! McGovern was doomed anyway but this was good for a laugh.
