Good News on the Law: Don’t get cheated by your lawyer!

“Hey, that’s not true! I’m over fifty, and I’ve already met at least two honest and decent lawyers!

(Well, they have degrees in law, and practice law, anyway. One is Col. Bud Day.)”

I guess I painted with a pretty broad brush. As a police officer I see defense lawyers lie with every breath they take and it sickens me. One of the biggest liars happens to also be a minister at a local church.

I didn’t use a sarcasm tag, and probably should have. I’ve met dozens of lawyers over the past 3 or 4 decades. Only two of whom I thought were really decent people, and also one who was trying to pass his bar exam.

...The ones that stay honest wind up losing cases, and drop out of the field. Judges don’t give credit for honesty...In a secular court of law, the truth loses when confronted with a lie on the other end of the spectrum. Seen it for decades.

Sadly, I could say similar things about many who work in sales. A successful salesman must tout his product to the exclusion of all alternatives, ignoring drawbacks to whatever he is selling. Hard to stay honest when you need to make your quota.
