No, No. Krauthammer was making the point of saying that it takes a lot of gall when you have had a Republican president for 8 years and Republican congress for most of that time for McCain to position himself as a Change Agent. The only change is bringing Palin into the picture.

What he is saying is that the point of this is to blunt Obama’s theme of Change, by pointing out McCain is a maverick. Once you make a credible point that McCain also brings change, you kill off this Bush 3rd term argument and you lessen the appeal of Obama’s change message. Political jiu jitsu.

Then, you are left with issues of character and competence. Charles K. said the most effective line of the night was when Thompson said when you get in the voting booth and think about the candidates, you know what you are getting with McCain. Obama is the really scary pick. This is why Lieberman’s speech is so important. It puts the doubt about Obama and assurance about McCain in donkeys’ heads when they have to vote.

This is really what Krauthammer was saying.

Thank you, untwist, for clarifying Charles Krauthammer's comments tonight to Brit Hume in #2550. That's what I heard as well... no way is Krauthammer "in the tank" for Obama, as some here apparently believe...
