A woman — but why this woman? [Sarah Palin]

So. This is what being pandered to feels like.
John McCain picked Sarah Palin, governor of Alaska and mother of five, to be his running mate to woo women like me.
He seems to think that my girlfriends and I are so disappointed that an utterly qualified woman is not going to be president that we will jump at the chance to vote for an utterly unqualified woman for vice president.
You gotta love a guy who thinks things are that simple.
Women already outvote men in this country, and it isn't because we like voting for all those women on the ballot.
Does McCain think we will be so grateful for a skirt on the ticket that we won't notice that she's anti-abortion, a member of the NRA and thinks creationism should be taught alongside evolution?

Read the column to its final line and feel the total glow of knowing John McCain and Sarah Palin are
so on the right side of history.
The columnist, when she is not leg-pressing Donna Shalala, is working on a paean to Japanese soldiers for bayoneting Chinese babies.

Thanks for posting, Maica.
Susan Reimer, for those outside the Ballmer area, is an intellectual lightweight (and an overweight middle-aged “professional mom”) who usually writes sickeningly cloying, airhead articles about her personal life, her daughters and her women friends. Erma Bombeck she’s not. Nor Michelle Malkin, either.

A woman but why this woman? [Sarah Palin]
My comments to Susan Reimer, interspersed into the story.
So. This is what being pandered to feels like.
And you got your job, how?
John McCain picked Sarah Palin, governor of Alaska and mother of five, to be his running mate to woo women like me.
Believe me when I say, we Conservatives are NOT trying to woo women like YOU."
He seems to think that my girlfriends and I are so disappointed that an utterly qualified woman is not going to be president that we will jump at the chance to vote for an utterly unqualified woman for vice president.
Oh, well
hell. If you and your girlfriends think it, it must be true.
You gotta love a guy who thinks things are that simple. Women already outvote men in this country, and it isn't because we like voting for all those women on the ballot.
Then
what is it for?
Does McCain think we will be so grateful for a skirt on the ticket that we won't notice that she's anti-abortion, a member of the NRA and thinks creationism should be taught alongside evolution?
Those are just three of the reasons conservatives LOVE Sarah Palin.
His selection of Sarah Palin is insulting on so many levels that I am starting to feel like the Geico caveman.
Yep, I can see the resemblance
.
You want to look like a maverick and like you think outside the box? Pick a woman for a running mate.
Pretty smart huh? Up to now, only the democrats have done that sort of thing
.i.e. Ferrero, Clinton;
Oh dont forget the black vote pandering
Jesse Jackson, Barack Obama
You were saying?...
You want to look good to the evangelicals? Choose a running mate with a Down syndrome child.
Thats pretty low
even for a democrat.
(When James Dobson, the conservative Christian radio host who fancies himself a kingmaker, jumped up to say that the selection of Palin means he can now "pull the lever" for John McCain, I almost felt sick. I don't know what I'll do if she trots out the story of her 5-month-old baby to shore up the Republican base.)
Maybe she should have followed Obama's advice and murdered it in an abortion clinic, just to make you libs happy.
Palin's personal story is very compelling, but it reads more like a movie pitch than a resume for national leadership.
The main difference being, she actually HAS a resume
more than we can say for Barry Hussein, "community organizer"
Champion high school athlete, beauty queen. Married to her high school sweetheart. Car-pooling supermom who went from PTA activist to mayor of her tiny (population 9,000) Alaskan town.
I just love it when you FAT girls talk about beauty queens as if it was a BAD thing. The jealousy and envy just ooozes right out of your article. ROTFLMAO
Fisherman, sportswoman, hunter. Speaks truth to power in a state corrupted by oil. Has a son headed to Iraq. A woman who made the decision to carry to term a baby she knew to be developmentally disabled.
Hey, and those are just SOME the reasons why were supporting her.
She makes John McCain, Naval Academy graduate, fighter pilot and prisoner of war, look like just another grouchy, old, rich white guy.
As opposed to a community organizing, commie sympathizer, angry black guy with a militant wife?
Oh. Right. He is.
Yes Obamallamadingdong IS.
And that's the other point here. McCain is 72. He has had at least four go-rounds with melanoma, a deadly cancer.
Uh, uh, uhhhh...no fair...you didnt mention Token Joe Bidens many aneurysms. They're more deadly than cancer, ya know.
Under the circumstances, the decision to choose this woman over the likes of, say, Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson looks less like a stroke of genius than a stroke. It looks crazy. It looks wacky.
Of course it is
but it was Obama who started this whole fresh face in politics thing (of course then he picked Washington insider Token Joe Biden as his running mate)
laugh, I thought Id die.
And that's the other part of this decision that is so infuriating.
Now, Susie...what was that about McCain being a grouchy old, white, guy;(I just love it when guilt ridden white people call other people "white" to try and insult THEM).
But Susie..You, yourself, are starting to sound like a grouchy, old, (did I mention fat), white gal
If you are going to pick a woman for the sake of picking a woman, can you at least make it a credible choice? You say that after offering the dumbest black guy in America history (whos Americanism is still questionable) as President.
 Wheres that COLB Susie?
Husseins credibility went out the window for spending 20 years worshiping Rev. Wright and William Ayers. Or maybe his 147 days in the Senate as a portfolio. But, he's cool as hell with a teleprompter.
Can you at least make a choice that doesn't give the gag writers for Jay Leno and Jon Stewart the month off?
You libs live and die by what's on (entertainment) television, don't you.
Is life just one, big movie to you?
Do you really think that the Tonight Show and Comedy Central echoes real life?
It is your type that underlines the saying, "Liberalism is a mental disease".
(The jokes started immediately: She won't be able to hold her own against Joe Biden in a vice presidential debate. But wait until the swimsuit portion of the competition.)
Oh no...here we go; it's that Fat Girl vitriol again
Personally, I cant wait to see Palin in a swimsuit.
Maybe you, and Hillary, and Helen Thomas would like to join her on the runway.
But, that would be like comparing Palin to Barack and Token Joe
no contest there...
Can you at least make a choice that doesn't have Rush Limbaugh panting? (He called Palin a "babe." It was another memorable moment in the ascent of women in this country.)
Palin IS a babe
and thats coming from millions of us healthy, red-bloodied American males and not from a bitter, white, female-fat-and-forty, democrat.
Barack Obama was the editor of the Harvard Law Review, for heaven's sake. And the best McCain can do is a woman who minored in poly-sci at the University of Idaho?
But, Palin did it WITHOUT EEO or a race card.
Palin might do just fine during the campaign. And she might do an excellent job of going to diplomatic funerals. (Which McCain once said is the only job description for the vice presidency.)
If Token Joe Biden went, you would be able to shut him up long enough to have a funeral service. Or, as democrats normally do, he would try to make a political event out of every funeral.
But it is more likely that she will be in over her head, and all the women McCain thinks he is courting will be cringing for our sister instead. And then we will be furious at him for setting one of us up to fail.
Lets compare you with Palin
(other than the obvious);
you both started out in sports
she became Governor of the largest state in the union, and you are still stuck at a dying liberal newspaper publishing Democrat talking points; SHE has a family, you have "girlfriends". Need I go on?
It isn't just that Palin might look bad campaigning against the likes of Biden or Obama. You're not only fat, you're blind and stupid, too.
It's that she already looks bad compared to the likes of Hillary Clinton.
Oh, you mean the same hillary clinton that has experience as first lady; the same hillary clinton who pulled strings to get elected (read: selected) to the Congress for New York?
The same, strong woman hillary who "stood by her man" and turned a blind eye to her husbands antics, like a good little, obedient wife
type....THAT Hillary Clinton?
Well, why didnt you say so? Thats the kind of woman you want
and, she is all for killing babies, just like you and the Hussein team.
Did you ever notice that Chelsea looks a hell of a lot more like hillarys old law partner, Hubbell, than she does Bill?
Susan...a tip for you. Columns are like Resume's...when you get older, fatter, and white haired...drop the picture.

For using an article from the Baltimore Sun, you now must go to confession and do a good act of contrition. ;^)
Aside from the fact that the Sun is as dull as Grey's "Elegy in a Church Yard" the paper hasn't has any credibility since Mencken died.

And here's the older son in the Palin family, before baby Trig was born:

There's no way Gov. Palin is going to 'woo women like you.' I think that was a typo on the author's part. What she meant to write was "to moo women like me".

I think Sarah Palin represents winning conservative issues in many ways. She sure shows a contrast to the talk of leftists about “inclusiveness, etc etc.”

The leftists who claim that McCain is pandering are the ones that not only don't get it, they don't get their own arguments.
They claim that women aren't going to flock to Palin because she's a woman because (they feel) she's on the wrong side of women's issues.
But they fail to realize that not every woman is on their side of women's issues.
Nor will they admit that the very same women that they claimed crossed over to their side to vote for Hillary would naturally cross back when Hillary didn't make it.

Thanks for posting the photos. What gorgeous families. How many TIME and Newsweek covers will they get?
One observation: I never see TIME or Newsweek on any magazine stands at supermarket checkout counters, so I guess only subscribers and doctors’ offices will have copies.

YOUR COMMENT ABOUT HER “DOWN SYNDROME” BABY WAS THE BEST PART. YOUR VENOM WAS WAS MIS-PLACED. HILLARY WAS SAVAGED BY HER OWN PARTY. WRITE ABOUT THAT. YOU SHOULD BE FIRED. YOUR EDITOR SHOULD BE FIRED FOR ALLOWING THIS STORY TO GO TO PRESS.
