We really need someone with a bit of inside knowledge to confirm this. I was under the impression that he only accepted public financing for the primaries. That’s why the blurb from his site specifically mentions “primary” contribution.

I thought he didn’t accept public financing for the general election.

Unfortunately, it is the other way around, for the Primaries, McCain can raise as much as he can, for the General Election, he will not be able to accept monies from donors, only from the FEC and that will be around 84 million dollars.

Obama is raising 50 million a month, he had agreed to the 84 million earlier, then backed out McCain never did back out and that is where we are today.

Fortunately (or not depending on your views) the RNC can accept donations for the McCain Campaign, as much as they can raise, but the RNC is not very popular with Conservatives..;>
