As a result of yesterday's stunning news about Sarah Palin, the next Vice President of the United States, many Freepers have decided to contribute to the McCain campaign.

TODAY is the LAST day that you can contribute to the McCain campaign. Tomorrow, public financing (ugh!) kicks in and they cannot accept donations any more.

If you want to participate, do it TODAY.

When you give, make sure you indicate that you were referred by a “FRiend” named “Sarah Palin”.

Oh shoot, I wish I had thought of that! I just left it blank...:-(

I think we can still donate to McCain starting monday, but you will be limited to $2500. This donation is for the "primary". I think you can also make a $2500 donation to the General.

------------------------------------------------------------

Can someone please clarify this definitively? A few FReepers' posts have suggested they were away from their checkbooks for the weekend. So they cannot donate at all?

If you can't make a donation after today--even if a letter is postmarked today, isn't the only way to make a donation by credit card on McCain's website?

P.S. We’re quickly approaching an important deadline. On August 31st, our campaign will no longer be able to accept your primary contribution. And as we face an opponent with a huge financial war chest, any amount you give right now will help secure a victory as we head into our own Convention. Please join the constantly growing group of supporters - of all party affiliations- who say, “John McCain is ready to lead.” Thank you.

OK, it is tomorrow. Get out the word!

The secure site where you can donate is:

I am sure she will. Personally, I’d rather send some dough to this years equivalent of the Swift Boat guys or some state organizations that are not afraid to buy tough advertisements which may not necessarily be authorized by JSM.

Yes, use a credit card on the web site. See the link earlier in this thread.

People have pointed out that Sunday is really the last day but I still want us to think of today as the last day at least because of the human tendency to procrastinate.

..what is he up to that needs money? Not a challenge, I’m just curious. My money thus far has gone to the CO senate and Hunter Juniors campaign.

Good idea, by the way. Thanks for the thread.

Did it yesterday. When the fundraiser called before I said I will wait and see who he picks for VP. He told me that was the most common answer they were getting.

Well, the VP pick came in and I opened up the checkbook. And I imagine a lot of other folks did too.

Down year for Senate Republicans has slowed donations to a trickle, things are tough enough that Liddy Dole was told she would not receive any RNSCC funds and she is in a fairly tough race with Beth Hagin...
