As a result of yesterday's stunning news about Sarah Palin, the next Vice President of the United States, many Freepers have decided to contribute to the McCain campaign.
TODAY is the LAST day that you can contribute to the McCain campaign. Tomorrow, public financing (ugh!) kicks in and they cannot accept donations any more.
If you want to participate, do it TODAY.
“.. I was under the impression that he only accepted public financing for the primaries. Thats why the blurb from his site specifically mentions primary contribution.
I thought he didnt accept public financing for the general election....”
Unfortunately, it is the other way around, for the Primaries, McCain can raise as much as he can, for the General Election, he will not be able to accept monies from donors, only from the FEC and that will be around 84 million dollars.
Obama is raising 50 million a month, he had agreed to the 84 million earlier, then backed out McCain never did back out and that is where we are today.
Fortunately (or not depending on your views) the RNC can accept donations for the McCain Campaign, as much as they can raise, but the RNC is not very popular with Conservatives..;>
Excitement is very high here! Everybody was talking about it this morning and the consensus is that it was an excellent and very bold move by McCain.
It made the front page of this morning's Stars and Stripes and I was lucky to get one. People were snapping them up, saying "This is history...I want to keep this."
Two people I know who have been on the fence finally fell off of it...on the right side. :-D
Or maybe I'll get to see Vice President Palin when she comes to Iraq to visit the troops sometime next year. :-D
DONE!
I also ordered a McCain-Palin yardsign/bumper sticker combo and a campaign button. I really like the U.S. Navy blue and gold colors that McCain is using for his campaign materials.
Ditto. With the PayPal it took about a minute.
Donated $50 this morning!
You can also use PayPal if you have an account.
a young volunteer at Mccains donation line said thats not exactly true, the donations after this month go into a “different pool”
I think he means the RNC can accept donations and run ads
Great, the Palestinians can donate to that when they get their refund from Obama.
Norman, I owe you a big apology. I’ve been very harsh with you over the past few months on the McCain threads. As far as I’m concerned, he redeemed himself yesterday by bringing Palin aboard as his running mate. Although I’ve still got some big differences with him on such things as illegal aliens, judicial appointments, and campaign-finance, what he did yesterday was a stroke of pure brilliance.
I’m now supporting this ticket 100% because of Palin, and have already donated to the campaign and purchased some merchandise.
Time for you to go back to your own forum.
Quality boots, made in Alaska. I wear them everyday.

Thanks! That's good info, and BTTT.
My 2nd & last donation this year. For me, McCain has redeemed himself with this pick. Palin will be a great VP. Great leady, terrific family. I love their story.
Fine, I just contributed. My husband swore he wouldn’t, but he’s happy with the pick, so I suppose he’ll be okay with it.
No problem at all. Thank you. FWIW, I don’t remember anything specifically bad you said! I think McCain has shown in a way with Palin the kind of picks he will make for the judiciary.
