Students typically report their race on their applications...

I wonder WHICH races are most likely to allude to their race on their college application forms? I can't imagine many White people referring to the "anguish" of being confronted with their "racial identity," etc. Although I suppose that there might be a lot of liberals who want to flaunt their "shame" and milk it for all it's worth, à la "As the privileged scion of an upper-class WASP family, early on I strove to reach out to classmates of other races..."

Regards,

My daughter just entered David Lipscomb.

I can tell you that race and gender are the most important qualifications for acceptance and aid.

Period.

It sounds like a Janet Cooke style of essay would give you a better chance of entering UCLA. Just write it as if you were black, without actually necessarily saying so in so many words. Readers suddenly think your writing puts Ernest Hemingway to shame.

From article: One of the most sought-after campuses in the United States, University of California, Los Angeles has been banned since before Proposition 209 from using race as an admissions criteria, along with other state public universities.

This happened, and huge thanks goes to one Mr. A. Favish who exposed the corruptions.

It will be interesting to track those students and see how many actually get a degree. And how many received athletic scholarships if those are part of the number.

UCLA officials have complained in the past that private universities such as USC and Stanford can "pick off" the best and brightest black students, because they can offer better financial aid.

If race is not supposed to be an issue for admission to the UC system why do applicants put down their race on their applications. Something does not add up.
