Among the news junkies I know Biden has long been known as the dumbest man in the Senate -- I said man because about ten years ago Barbara "Check Bouncer" Boxer entered the Senate from the House (that's were the taxpayer subsidized "bank" was).

I agree that there are not that many people in that group.

Still waiting to be enlightened DC. I'm on FR everday, where was all this acclamation for a McCain-Palin ticket before he actually chose her. There was some but not the extent that we're getting now that she is this great great pick. So here she is a step away from the Presidency and being the Commander-in-Chief of the most powerful military in the world, how is she qualified to be that if need be?

Afterall this woman has been in office for a very short time in a small state, what makes her the most qualified pick? Why wasn't Hillary qualified then?

Thanks for the info Peos, again conservative credentials are nice, methinks thats why everyone is so 'enthused' about Palin and NOT necessarily because she is the most qualified.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the crux of Savage's criticism? While one may like Palin, is the matter of experience off-limits?

No president exists in a vacuum. Presidents make decisions based upon facts presented and upon the outcomes of debate among advisers. IMO her success or failure, as president, depends upon whom she picks for those roles. Until she becomes president all she will need is a bucket that does leak -- and practice looking somber.

I believe that it is reasonable to expect that she has above average IQ.

I am impressed with her competitiveness and her realistic, pragmatic approach. It is my understanding that she dumped a score of privileges available to the governor -- including selling off the governor's private jet.

She is as much against pork as McCain is.

I explained in my post above what it would take IMO for Savage to be correct.

When I read that McCain had chosen Palin, I was relieved. (My pick would have been Hunter but I digress.) I didn’t realise that Savage would have an issue with it until I looked at his website right before the show.

You're right, the reality is McCain chose Palin, but I also like to deal in truth and I'm merely trying to get at why she was the ultimate choice from McCain's VP list, for now my answers for it seem to be as good as anybody elses so far at least on this thread.

She definitely wouldn't have been on my list but nonetheless an 'alleged' conservative female is better than a RINO male anyday, so I'm not as down about it as Savage seems to be. McCain apparently knows what will beat the Rats since he's half a one himself, so I'm hoping this pick helps the ticket succeed come Novemeber.

It is always on the table. In this case, so far, the positives of the Palin pick outweigh the negatives by a lot.

Every single FR I have ever discussed this issue with agreed that McCain needed to pick a true conservative to be his VP to balance out his liberal leanings. Every FR I know of had Palin on their list but figured she was a long shot because of several reasons:
1. She just got elected Gov less than 2 yrs ago.
2. She just had a baby with downs syndrome

That’s why I didn’t beat the drum for her. I thought she would be a good VP candidate or even Presidential material in a few years. I thought it was a long shot that she’d even entertain the idea, let alone accept the nomination.

I’m happy he chose a true conservative and not a fellow RINO. That’s why most conservatives are excited/relieved that McCain chose Palin.
