Putin accuses U.S. of orchestrating Georgian war

(CNN) -- Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has accused the United States of orchestrating the conflict in Georgia to benefit one of its presidential election candidates.

In an exclusive interview with CNN's Matthew Chance in the Black Sea city of Sochi Thursday, Putin said the U.S. had encouraged Georgia to attack the autonomous region of South Ossetia.

Putin told CNN his defense officials had told him it was done to benefit a presidential candidate -- Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama are competing to succeed George W. Bush -- although he presented no evidence to back it up.

When told that many diplomats in the United States and Europe blame Russia for provoking the conflict and for invading Georgia, Putin said Russia had no choice but to invade Georgia after dozens of its peacekeepers in South Ossetia were killed. He told Chance it was to avert a human calamity.

Translation: Putin's making his first Osama Bin Laden video.

The last time a power-hungry foreign murderer gave an anti-GOP tirade it worked out real well for President John Kerry.

He must have heard Dennis Kucinich last night on Oreilly blaming America for Russia’s invasion of Georgia and thought Dennis actually was a sane politician.

Sounds just like OUR communists blaming Bush for the 9/11 disaster. Communist trash are all the same. Putin is really pushing hard, thinking that given all our actions in the Middle East and the associated politics, that Bush will not push back.....

We shall see.

Yes, the DU’ers are all over the blessed Putin that dares to tell the “truth” about bad old America. They love him and the small group over there more & more are starting to quote and post Pravda propaganda garbage and call it truthful reporting. I guess many of them are so young they don’t remember Pravda under Breshnev.

Tacit endorsement for Obama? He must really want someone weak to deal with. If he keeps this up, we'll have to call him, Mahmoud Ahmadineputin

Indeed! The audacity of a democRAT. Well said.

Also, note well how Putin has learned the lesson on how to manipulate the diplomatic and media process. Their joint military / media plan is worthy of the title "Art of War, II."

Putin has played us like a Stradivarius, saying just the right things at just the right time, all the while his military executing their plan flawlessly. Our diplomacy is impotent in the face of this. This is EXACTLY how Obama and anyone sharing his "how to wage peace" plan will fail. Up until now, we've faced a motley crew of pikers. Now they'll eat us alive.

OF COURSE Putin’s doing what he can to get Obama elected. With a gutless empty suit in the White House, Vlad will have a free hand to re-establish the Russian empire.

Vodka must be in short supply for the citizens of Russia, as Putin seems to have imbibed alot of it.

If both candidates were NOT George Soros puppets that argument might hold water.

From Thomas Sowell this week:

“The recent death of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn should make us recall what he said when he was awarded the Nobel Prize: “The timid civilized world has found nothing with which to oppose the onslaught of a sudden revival of barefaced barbarity, other than concessions and smiles.” What would a Barack Obama presidency mean, other than more concessions and broader smiles, while Iran goes nuclear?”
(and Putin runs amok)
