Family is an issue with a down syndrome child. I have a special needs child with a lot less problems then her child potentially has.

The child will defintely be needing speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. How is she going to do that and take a newborn on the road to campaign?????

Down syndrome children have a 50% chance of having heart problems in addition to problems with hearing and eyesight.

My husband could not travel when my brain injured daughter was a baby. He had to come home straight from work to help at home. He got up in the middle of the night, he took my son to school. There was tons of work to do for 2 parents. My husband missed lots of work the first few years with doctors appointments and such.

My daughter is much easier now because she has been remediated, so my husband doesn’t do as much now. At this point, the Palins do not know what the future is for their baby. That just takes time, and the baby is too young to know how he is going to develop.

I wasn’t trying to minimize their family situation and understand it is quite a challenge - but she is still a Governor, and could have resigned knowing the child would have issues. VP is a good area for her to serve and she can decide when Trig is 4-5 whether she wants to move on up to POTUS or return to Alaska.
