This is just another case of "perception is reality", driven by the old propaganda trick that if "you repeat a lie often enough, no matter how outlandish and irrational..."
I personally don't buy it. I will never buy it. And I a convinced that I am not alone.
The rehabilitation of Nazi Germany may actually happen in the dim distant future, based on the "argument" that it's patently unfair to condemn a large cultural group when it included, in numerical terms, a handful of truly noble, good, heroic people. Some actually made the ultimate sacrifice in doing "good". But the overwhelming majority is what drove history and perpetrated atrocities beyond description. A few good men cannot expiate that.
I live in a period of history when evil has spread again, and the atrocities are worse; More widespread, not limited to a few countries surrounding the source of the evil, and unashamedly cloaking itself in the armor of religion, the very element that made that last last assault on civilization so noteworthy but this time claiming to be the victim, not the perpetrator.
This is the mind-boggling inversion of reason and logic, and it "seems" to be working due almost entirely to a new, also irrational, element: political correctness. There is no easy way to overestimate the combined effect, when individually we make the choice to be blind, but we collectively pay the price of stupidity in universal murder and mayhem.
The world is no longer prepared (if it ever was) to passively submit and accept an existence of the Eloi and the Morlocks by any name, or under any pretext religious or otherwise.
Evil is evil whether there are a billion of them or three billion of them.
The world has responded by suggesting that they "lighten up".
They refused.
The next attempt was to say "Time to back off".
Also ignored.
We are fast approaching the "Stop or else!" stage. When that state is clear to the rest of the world combined, the result will be swift, huge, violent and permanent.
Not at all pretty. But, of course, the "monsters" will claim victimhood, as they always do.
Religion? I don't buy it. Never have; never will.
Religion? I don’t buy it. Never have; never will.”
The Fourth Reich??
