—Son of a poor boiler repairman, lived in scrappy neighborhoods.
—Catholic schools, university, law school grad.
—Worked 2 years as lawyer/public defender, elected to city council.
—Married, 3 kids, wife died in auto accident.
—4 yrs after law school, elected to Senate.
—Remarried a teacher.
The bios don’t say anything about a continuing law practice. First wife is not reported to have been wealthy.
So: he became wealthy as a senator? How does that work? (rhetorical, of course). But, seriously, how did he become wealthy enough to live in such luxury?
