That would be a point, except (once again, only going by my completely anecdotal evidence from family and friends), all those I talked to serving over there want to finish the job and abhor the thought of coming home in defeat, after all the blood, sweat, and tears expended already in the task. My brother, nephews, etc, served in those conditions-the heat, the violence and risk to life and limb (and have seen the reality of those things, to their friends and comrades), and they don't want another Vietnam, throwing in the towel after we've come this far. That just negates all the hardship already endured. So I wonder, are the people I know anomalies, is this report not telling the whole truth, or what?

I will go along with your conclusions. I still feel so sorry for our people suffering in that heat, cold and dirt along with the camel spiders, horned vipers and scorpions. All that in addition to crazy people.
BTW our fight for independence was fought by us with some help from others. It wasn’t imposed from outside. Sometimes I think our military has been sent on a fool’s errand.
