Nah, I think these are 2nd indictments for the fellows. First, the child sexual abuse and now bigamy.
To: Alice in Wonderland
So, the total is five, or is it six?

Is the bishop’s list a list by the bishop of all activities, or is it a list of all the bishop’s activities?

“The outrages that were beyond all description were their beliefs. “
What beliefs did they have that were so outrageous?

It's a census of families at the ranch. Here's a link:
Bishop's List

The outrages that were beyond all description were their beliefs. I don't know. It was probably their belief that the LDS religion was the only true church on the face of the earth and that all the other churches were Satan's spawn : )
Most likely though it was the Mormons anti slavery position and the fact that they were rapidly becoming a major political power due to their growing numbers.
To: LeGrande
Well, while probably and likely are reasonable for proof when no other proof exists, there was written proof in the quoted information on the Missouri incident.
“I have received by Amos Reese, Esq., of Ray county, and Wiley C. Williams, Esq., one of my aids, information of the most appalling character, which entirely changes the face of things, and places the Mormons in the attitude of an open and avowed defiance of the laws,”
You put people in a ‘seat of excitement’ with your last two paragraphs. The image you conjure up of a picture of 100’s of soldiers riding horses, with the latest rifles, hunting down Mormons like a foxhunt in the English woods, would indicate you know little about the history of Missouri.

Besides, Boggs 'plan' was a miserable failure.

What in the heck are you talking about? Did you forget your meds this morning?

Where did you get that concept?
I thought non-Mormons were just considered uncivil heathens.

No. I don’t do meds.
But, I’m still waking up, and I referred to the wrong thing.
I should have referred to your previous posts, not the last two paragraphs.
But, is that the picture you have in your head?

But, is that the picture you have in your head? No. It was just a law passed against people lumping them together because of their beliefs.
To: UCANSEE2
I thought non-Mormons were just considered uncivil heathens. That too : ) I think it is a generally accepted principle to unite your own group by demonizing opponents.
To: LeGrande
“It was just a law passed against people lumping them together because of their beliefs.”
And their beliefs were that they didn’t have to obey the laws.

I know. And we are going to be hit in the face with it for several days as the DNC Convention in Denver gets going full steam.

And their beliefs were that they didnt have to obey the laws. Nah, they believe in honoring, obeying, and sustaining the law. They are really boring that way.
To: LeGrande
Speaking of demonizing your opponents, the FLDS doesn’t have the same beliefs as the LDS, from what I can tell.
According to what I have been able to find, the FLDS think non-Mormons are heathens, and blacks are the true spawn of Satan.
Sex with minors.
Bigamy on a wholesale basis.
And now, racism.
The FLDS doctrines practiced by these people that lived at the YFZ Ranch, just seem so.....wholesome and theologically rewarding.
And sound just like the behavior by our Congress.

And sound just like the behavior by our Congress. I think you are slandering the FLDS by comparing them to our Congress : )
