Why was the North American Treaty Organization (NATO) bastardized in the first place? Those countries not in North America do not belong. This is just more of the US not minding our own business.

NATO stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Admittedly some of its members are a bit removed from the shores of the Atlantic Ocean...but not as far as Atlantic Blvd. in Los Angeles County is.
The newly aggressive stance taken by Russia is just in time for the Democrats next week to denounce Bush for reviving the Cold War.
