Pit Bull Bites Baby In Harford County

" Police say daycare workers didn't know the toddler went outside into a backyard after going through a rear door.

The home of the daycare provider, Anita Brunke, is in the 800-block of Edmund Street. She says the boy, 18-month-old Demetrius Allen, was the only one home at the time of the mauling.

The pit bull was fenced in the backyard, but in an instance, the dog had the child in his mouth.

"The dog had the little boy, bouncing him up and down like a rag doll," said a neighbor.

Brunke says the dog attack happened when she was in the bathroom. She kept the door open a crack to keep an eye on Allen, but she says she did not see him walk out into the yard."

"Police say the dog ripped off the boy's scalp. He's had surgery but they don't know how he's doing now. "

"Brunke says the dog has never acted out like this before. Police say there will be no criminal charges filed."

This is a situation I've had some experience with.
At the dog park where I take my dogs frequently there are a number of pit bulls. I'm very cautious of them. I keep pepper spray and a stick just in case my dogs are attacked. So far I've had no problems with my dogs being attacked.
However one owner was bragging about how wonderful her pit was and that it would never hurt a child or even another dog. I tried to explain to her that these dogs can go crazy do to having been bred for a long time for aggression. No matter how wonderful you think a pit is they can change on you in an instant. I've heard professional dog people and animal behaviorists explain this many times. She would not believe me and told me I was crazy and to mind my own business. About a week later her pit was playing with another dog and something set the pit off. It injured the other dog and the woman had to pay $500 in vet bills. I didn't want to tell her I told you so and I didn't. Needless to say I don't let my dogs play with her pit anymore.

It failed.

A dog is led by a leash into that situation, without any responsibility for being there, with all responsibility being on the supposedly rational human.

When the dog becomes agitated from being led by a leash into an overstimulating environment, lunges at food in a girl’s mouth, and then the dog is put down, that is the human’s stupidity and responsibility at work.

In your example, a human being exercised his own judgment and responded to the environment based on his own thought processes. If the human does something stupid, he pays for it.

In my example, the dog paid for the human having done something stupid.

The absurdity of your analogy demonstrated nothing beyond its own absurdity.

In response to your comment on how someone could let their child go to a daycare with a pitbull. I am a family member and the mother was not aware of the pitbull being there just the little collie that was there the pitbull was her son’s dog in to which she never notified anyone that she had another dog in the home. so i just thought i would clear that up.
