How can we let Georgia into NATO unless we’re ready to go to war for her? ...It’s mutual defense pact. Now that the latest Kremlin Bull has been nailed to the door, it seems to me that acceptance of Georgia, the Ukraine, or any other former satellite into NATO would be tantamount to a declaration of war. And from the Baltic it starts again.

If Russia is bent on war there will be war. Giving Georgia and the Ukraine membership in NATO will give Russia pause to think. It'll piss them off and we'll be back to a full fledged Cold War, but in my opinion we've been there for years.

I’m just for accepting reality — I think I’m in agreement with you. Call it realpolitik, or whatever. What makes my stomach churn is when we have a state of cold war with another country and we pretend we don’t. Take Mexico, for example. Please.
