Well the President has essentially said the Russians must stop the war or . . . It is normal to make a statement just short of an ultimatum before you make the ultimatum. We have now done that. The next step would be to make an actual threat. I am not much of a poker player, but it is soon going to be time to lay our cards on the table. If we do nothing, things are going to go downhill very fast.
We have to back them down and it sounds as though Bush knows it. The only thing is that without getting into a shooting war, I am not sure how many options we have.
The Europeans would have an awfully cold winter without Russian oil.
If Europe turns tail, where we would even put our planes?
