The Pres used the words "Russia must" more than once - diplomatic speak for "Russia had better do what we ask". That is very tough talk.

I got news for you. There is nothing Bush can do to force Russia to back down short of launching a pre-emptive nuclear strike.

I wonder if he can work on triggering an internal power struggle within Russia between the President and the Prime Minister. As re another post, I don't think his comment about 'regime change in Russia' was a slip of the tongue.

You’re wrong. He could OK Israel to bomb Iran’s nuke plants. He could move the military in to a blockade position around Iran.

Putin would sh** a brick as his primary goal is control of oil and Iran is one of his principle suppliers of oil.

You are wrong. We have the weaponry and the aircraft to deliver it that were designed precisely for stopping these types of armored and infantry column advances. As in completely decimating them.

We have aircraft from Northern Iraq who could.

I believe we should escort those transport aircraft into Georgia carrying the Georgian Iraq troops with fighter and attack aircraft so that if the Russians so much as sneazed at them that we then used them.

Doubtful that we will do this...but to your comments, we certainly could do so and that would be well short of a preemptive nuclear strike.

Oh so wrong you are young grasshopper.
There are quite a number of things that can (and will) be done. Some you will see, and some you won’t. And we are quite a long ways away from talking about atomic weapons.

It would not have to be nuclear..not yet anyway, and most certainly would not be preemptive. Preemptive is when you attack first, because you think the other side is planning to attack. The Russians are already attacking one of our friends. A few B-2s loaded with JDAMS would make a mess of the Lines of Communications of those Russian forces, especially the approaches to that tunnel. A few bunker busters on the tunnel itself would also be useful.
