Democrats Move Quick to Lessen Damage of John Edwards Affair Two-Time Presidential Contender Endorsed Obama, Has Not Ruled Out Convention Role By RICK KLEIN and JENNIFER PARKER
Aug. 8, 2008
John Edwards' admission that he had an extramarital affair puts pressure on Sen. Barack Obama to quickly distance himself from the former North Carolina senator and prominent Democrats are calling on him to announce immediately that Edwards will not have any role at the Democratic National Convention.
By tradition, unsuccessful primary contenders are showcased at the convention, and Obama aides suggested before today's revelation that Edwards and other former candidates would be part of the speaking program.
Edwards indicated during his interview with ABC News' Bob Woodruff that he had not yet decided whether he would still like to be part of the convention and the Obama campaign.
But with the news breaking barely two weeks before the spotlight falls on the Democratic Party in Denver, many Democrats say Edwards must be completely sidelined for the remainder of this campaign -- if not longer.

Damn, now saying that she fully expects to someday marry John Edwards.
NOW we know why Obama went into hiding in Hawaii.
Not just his birth certificate, but hiding from this storm.
Yep, that bus needs all the ground clearance it can get :)
Just get Bill Clinton, Eliot Spitzfong, Ted Kennedy, Barney Frank, and assorted other leading citizens to vouch for John Edwards as a great guy...... all will be well.
LOL. Maybe Barry should visit Indonesia for awhile...... or Kenya...... or Pakistan.
Just hide out until the convention in Denver.......
Yeah, LOL. Let’s not forget McGreevey......
next John Edwards press conference:
“My truth is...... I am an adulterous American. A horny, slimeball, lying American....... but I didn’t love the bitch, it was just meaningless sex......and the kid’s not mine, take my word for that, will you? And I only went to meet late at night in a hotel room with my FORMER mistress and her love-child because, well, just b/c she heard I was in town and she really wanted to chit-chat and catch up on old times, talking about my great 2006 book tour, when I put her on the campaign payroll at $25K per month to bonk my brains out every night........ there, I feel all better!”
I know people who make less than 50K who pay that much in child support.
You’ve inspired a new tagline.
From what I’m hearing on the news, you’d think Edwards only cheated after John McCain put the idea in his head.
Edwards could be trying to protect Elizabeth from having to face the ultimate betrayal of compounding adultery by fathering a child illegitimately. Please God, somehow, grant her peace in the time she has left.
Republicans who get or aspire to the highest office who have the same problem? Not many.
Very telling.
I think the real struggle with liberal Democrats and their media is is with just why adultery and the like are wrong. The real liberal today essentially rebels against against Gods moral absolutes (which work for our benefit), and want to reject the reality of man’s sinful nature and laws which this necessitates. They reject the reality that children may need to be spanked, and that wars sometimes are just and necessary, as are laws such as regulate sexual behavior and require public decency.
They see most felons and poor as victims of any moral authority which basically recognizes the necessity of obeying basic moral laws. They work to inculcate a victim mentality among the masses (as did Communism), which the black culture has largely bought and suffered for, and instead promise a type of paradise based on rebellion against God. The end result of which is just the opposite, now and forever.
