I'm disgusted with election year panderers, who act like this problem has just cropped up.
Don't accuse me of rolling over on this issue, that is not what I said or advocate.
Up until now, the dems had John Q. Public fooled with their environment garbage and this sort of action would have no support at all.
With any luck, a few dems will also lose their seat over this come election time! Oooh, a bonus!
Of course politicians like to pander in election season, but elections also serve as leverage. In my view, the GOP house is leveraging the election season. They are forcing the hand of DEMs who would prefer to pander to enviro whackos. Now those DEMs have to think hard about it, as America has woken up finally. GWB has been saying for 8 years we need an energy plan. The DEMs have obstructed, with the help of squishy GOPers. They are seizing the moment, imo, not pandering.
My rep, Scott Garrett, is participating in this and I applaud him for it. Times have changed. Just as GWB wasn't "pandering" by launching the war on terror, the Congress is not pandering now. They are responding to a whole new ballgame on the ground.
Yes, you did advocate rolling, you said to little, to late. That means give up guys we should have done something long ago! That is rolling. Also, the congress tried to deal with this when they had a majority and couldn't get Bush to push hard enough and at that time the taxpayers were not sufficiently pissed yet in order to get the majority behind a movement to drill, so the dims and the rinos outvoted the real conservatives. The time is now, the mood is now, saying to little to late is simply throwing cold water on a positive situation.
You can fool yourself if you want and say you are not advocating rolling but the COLD truth is you are advocating it, and judging from other post to you I am not the only one who sees your remark in that light. Have a good day and if you don't want to support this movement I am sure your time can be better spent on some other thread.
It isn’t the Republicans. They got a drilling bill through Congress in ‘95 or ‘96, the only one that’s gotten through both Senate and House, and Clinton vetoed it. They’ve been trying. They’ve had more bills. They never get past both the House and Senate.
I understand how you feel, but I see it a bit differently. If these people will only do something productive when their jobs are threatened, then at least we have leverage every four years. I'm just hoping that if we support the Pubs when they actually do grow some stones, maybe they'll take a hint and do it again and again. It's about friggin' *time*!! ;-)

Since you were getting lambasted for being honest, figured I’d drop a “you’re absolutely right” in your direction.
