Pinging CAL to see if she was there today to give an on-the-scene update to close out the day. Thanks again, EC for all that you do. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s live thread.
Hey, lonevoice! Thanks for the ping. I was there today. It was a long day!
The crowds in the House chamber were triple the size of yesterday. Opening speech this morning was standing room only with two deep around the side and rear aisles of the floor with overflow in the gallery. The Members and staffers all had a spring in their step, very, very upbeat today, as you can see this thing growing before your eyes.
Newt was inspiring to everyone, as always, commenting on historical aspects of everything. And the hardest worker I saw the whole day was Rep. Virginia Foxx of North Carolina. After comparing Pelosi to "Let them eat cake," Marie Antoinette at the morning presser, she gave a floor speech and was then non-stop tending to tour groups.
Count I got from Blunt's office (Blunt returned today, his primary in MO was yesterday) is 72 GOP members have participated so far coming in and out... more fresh faces expected by Monday with murmurs from Members that they're going to support this effort through August.
