The point is, and one we should be trying to make as conservatives, that we don't need to the government to subsidize hydrogen fuel cells, ethanol or any other type of "alternative" energy source. The free market will do that when it becomes viable and paying. We need to have companies doing R&D on alternatives, and I am sure some are, but we don't need any more big government in there messing things up.

The reason things are in such a mess now is because the government has all but taken over free enterprise in this country. I don't want subsidies, I don't want the feds or the state government or local government sticking their nose into private enterprise, get them out of business and back to what the constitution says their job is.

My point is - W called for it several years ago, and everyone was making fun of him. Now we need what he was calling for. I agree that it should not be up to the government, but he did see the need in 2003. I have heard nothing about it from anyone.
