If the Reps keep this up, they will be making a good case to throw the Dems out.

See post
#1127 for a link to the petition organized by Congressman Eric Cantor (R-VA) calling on Pelosi to return Congress to session. He's one of the leaders of this congressional sit-in, and he's on McCain's list of VP considerations. It wouldn't surprise me if he's using this petition as one means of gauging how many people are actually watching what they're doing in D.C. this week. I hope they get hundreds of thousands of signatures.

I have watched it, and I applaud him for it. But, please, don’t try to take away my fantasy of seeing him on the Capitol steps, surrounded by 1,000 or so bikers, making a dramatic statement to Pelosi. I’m enjoying it. :-)

Alternately, he can call their bluff and make a recess appointment. The Senate cannot argue both ways simultaneously.I like the way you think.
Unfortunately, the WH isn't even pretending to be hand-tied in calling the House to session because of the supposed Catch-22 with the senate being in pro forma. They know they can do it. Instead, the WH spokesman said they don't plan to call for a session because the demcorats aren't "willing" to do anything, so it wouldn't do any good anyway. Sigh. Lame duck indeed. Lame. Lame. Lame.

Just logged in from work. Trying to catch up on this thread. I also a few minutes ago called my congressman - Bob Inglis (R-SC) They said he had previous “out of town” commitments that he had to make, so he cannot be on the Floor right now. I said, “Is he supporting these Reps that are protesting right now?” They said “yes, and that he wishes he was there” I said that I wanted him to know that they are planning this all week and if all possible, he needs to be there at some point this week. The lady was very nice, and told me she would pass that along to him.
Upchuck, perhaps a SC ping to all SCFreepers to call their congressman too.

From the Rush In a Hurry - August 4, 2008:
House Republicans staged a guerilla revolt after Speaker Pelosi adjourned Congress without a vote on drilling. We must support them.
