Isn’t going to happen. Hunter doesn’t bring anything vote-wise to a McCain ticket. He certainly is NOT going to sway his home state, which is a large part of what McCain is going to look for. Hunter should start RIGHT NOW to set up a run for Governor of CA in 2010. He might have some small chance of winning that, depending on who runs against him on the Dem side.
The problems Hunter would bring to the ticket are large, though, given a McCain strategy to go after moderates and independents. They’re by and large not conservative, and in fact are probably turned off by people as conservative as Hunter.
We need to keep in mind that FR is NOT necessarily representative of the views of the whole of the public any more than DKos is. We’re not as hard-over here as they are, but we’re still not the vast majority here.
