Right now Lindsay Graham is suggesting that MCCAIN call the President and ask to reconvene congress.
Here's how I understand it.....
On Friday they closed at 5 pm. It totalled about 50 pubbies and some were allegedly returning. They said they would NOT go home until either Pelosi opened the house for debate on the matter or the Prez called for congress to vote on the matter.
They are supposed to be back on Monday.
Now if the pubbie do this right, and I'm hopeful but skeptical, they'd spend this weekend calling the pubbies who went home. They'd arrange for cameras in that chamber, somehow, some way.
The fact that Graham is implying that McCain should be the one calling the president to reconvene the House leaves me hopeful. If McCain really wanted to win this thing he'd jump on this thing with both feet.
Here's the thing.....the Dems are banking on the month of August being a month that Americans get used to gasoline at $3.50+ a gallon. Already the price is dropping daily, cent by cent. The Dems figure if they can wait this out, and they know it's a bombshell, it will blow over and after recess life can go on.
The pubbies should be playing this up and not letting the Dems get away with it. Their refusal to allow us to drill in our own land does NOT resonate with the American people big time. The pubbies NEED to get this out in the open, make those Saudi/Soros funded Dems explain this logic to Americans filled with common sense who would never dream of buying tomatoes at an exhorbitant cost from a grocery when they can plant seeds in their own back yard and grow their own. Yeah...that's right, we who carry this country on our backs whilst raising the citizens and soldiers of tomorrow.
So I must hope that Graham, given his proximity to McCain, has some inside scoop that McCain might jump into this fray with both feet. But I'll believe it when I see it.
Because even IF the price of gasoline goes down fifty cents or so, the reality is that within this summer driving season the cost of a gallon of gas went up almost a buck and if we sit back and ignore it....soon enough it will start going up again. We need to get this congress to do OUR will....hey out here, these people who elected you guys, remember us?
This issue is the pubbies to lose, believe it.
Finally....Mike Castle is Delaware's one and only congress critter in the House. Delaware is one of the few states that has TWO senators and one representative.
Mike Castle is a Republican.
Mike Castle is President of the so-called "Main Street Republicans". This is a group of RINO's with that cutesy name that indicates a real "bipartisanship" which some would call...BEING A DAMN DEMOCRAT!
I've been complaining for about forever about this Main Street Republican group being AGAINST drilling in ANWAR.
You read right....a Republican trying to protect the caribou.
If the pubbies push this issue traitors like Castle will be exposed. For Castle was NOT one of those fifty pubbies revolting in the House, go with me. And goodness Delaware is right up the street from DC. He could easily just turn around and go back, no?
Nice man, I met him, have a pic of me with him, Governor of Delaware for two terms. But believe that Delaware citizens want cheaper gas and could care less about the tundra. So exactly what constituency is Castle serving?
When I was involved with the Delaware pubbie party I asked over and over when we could get rid of Castle, put a real Democrat in his place.
"We need him," is what the party gurus told me.
And THIS is why liberals, Dems and RINOS control congress.
I certainly agree that we need more fuel.
Excellent! (Halp us Jon Cary, we stuck in Irak!)
Jenny, please tell us what Daschle is lying about!
I’d rather have Lieberman up there against Kerry than some ‘Real’ Republicans these days. Thought he did a good job in that interview.
OMG that’s was so wonderful.
And Rush deserves it.
He got so many astounding phone calls and I had to wonder if all these people listen to Rush why don’t they follow his lead?
Even IF Rush didn’t choose what has to be the number one female name of his generation (I am the same age as Rush), specifically PATRICIA, in his top one hundred female names, I love him anyways.
I don't know about that, but we do need energy self-sufficiency by any and every method.
I knew someone would get me started laughing! Now the question is how do I stop!!
Daschle seems out of practice, and not comfortable with Wallace’s persistence in asking questions that demand a concrete, non-waffle, answer.
Graham had facts in front of him, read quotes from a paper on the table. I think Daschle demonstrated that popular word on FR — gob-smacked.
During the discussion of the McCain ad challenging Obama on his rockstar status, Daschle said he had never heard Obama say the word “I”. Wallace replied, “you haven’t? We can get the tape and play it.”
Is fuel not energy????? We have the entrepeneurs to find new ways of doing things, but we need plain ol’ fossil fuels to get us up and running and TO the new ways.
Don’t think I’d pay 440k a day for THAT rig!
He must have never heard Obama speak then. That's just plain wacko.
Juan Williams just said that Obama did play the race card this week, and made a mistake doing so.
Good insight, Fishtalk! McCain needs to jump on board.
Slight correction: I don’t think it’s a case of the people of Delaware (or any state, for that matter) not caring about the tundra, it’s just that it’s a lie to say the tundra will be harmed by modern, scientific exploration and extraction of its oil.
People see a picture of the tundra at ANWR and say, “WTF, there’s NOTHING there! Drill it, baby!!!”
That was an example of how Daschle lies with a smile every time he speaks. I am so glad that he is gone from the Senate!
PHILADELPHIA, DETROIT, SAN FRANCISCO...
OMG! What an idiot thing to say. I supposed Wallace made him "deeply saddened".
