PANAMA CITY, FL Country Music star John Rich premiered a new song Friday dedicated to Sen. John McCain at a rally for the GOP presumptive nominee on the Florida Panhandle.
At a Country First (get it?) concert, one of the two stars of Big and Rich performed Raisin McCain as McCain was arriving for a brief rally in Panama City. The song focuses on the Vietnam veterans time as a POW and refers to him as a a real man with an American plan. (Full lyrics after jump)
Well were all just raisin McCain. Everywhere across the USA. You can get on the train or get out of the way. Were all just raisin McCain, the chorus goes. While it is not likely to takeover the charts like Big and Richs recent hit, Save a horse, ride a cowboy, the nearly 500 person crowd danced along to the hit. Rich performed the song solo though as his musical partner, Big Kenny, is an Obama supporter. (Video of the event on the link provided)

RAISIN MCCAIN
Music and lyrics by John Rich
Well were all just raisin McCain
Everywhere across the USA
You can get on the train or get out of the way
Were all just raisin McCain
And were all just raisin McCain
Everywhere across the USA
You can get on the train or get out of the way
Were all just raisin McCain
Well he got shot down in a Vietnam town
Fighting for the red, white and blue
And they locked him up in the Hanoi Hilton
Thinking they could break him in two
He stayed strong, stayed extra long
Til they let all the other boys out
Now weve got a real man with an American plan
Were going to put him in the big White House
Well were all just raisin McCain
Everywhere across the USA
You can get on the train or get out of the way
Were all just raisin McCain
Play that American guitar, son
And were all just raisin McCain
Everywhere across the USA
You can get on the train or get out of the way
Were all just raisin McCain
I said were all just raisin McCain
Everywhere across the USA
You can get on the train or get out of the way
Were all just raisin McCain
Well you can get on the train or get out of the way
Were all just raisin McCain
I love Big and Rich. They really did well with that 8th of November song and they paid a nice tribute to Vietnam Vets with it.
I met that man they wrote about one time in South Dakota traveling through I guess the same route they took (there is really only one main highway there) and got a beer in his bar. He limped and had that long grey ponytail. He was a really nice guy and it was nice, small bar. Very clean. When I saw the video and heard where he was from, I knew that was the guy! He did have a way of making you remember him. Heck, I traveled all over this country and don’t recall 99% of the people I met. But I did him.
They wore bumper stickers on their clothing?? Yeehaw - Redneck campaign tees.
I hope you listened to the video of Him singing it down in Panama City tonight.. ..good choice of a song
Not just a copy of someone else’s song.. McCain’s own song.
Who are you calling "redneck"?
Actually, I'm a fan, myself.
I did! And it’s a darn good song!
Well, they were in Panama City Florida. Redneck Riviera!
Raise Cain
Etymology
Cain refers to the biblical son of Adam and Eve, the first murderer. The expression (also sometimes raise Hell or raise the Devil) means to bring or return that evil to Earth.
[edit] Verb
to raise Cain
1. (idiomatic) to cause trouble
If those boys have been out drinking and raising Cain again tonight...
2. (idiomatic) to behave in a disruptive manner
I seen old Flint in the corner there, behind you; as plain as print, I seen him; and if I get the horrors, I’m a man that has lived rough, and I’ll raise Cain. - Treasure Island, Robert Louis Stevenson
[edit] Synonyms
* raise Hell
* raise the Devil
Isn’t “Raisin McCain” kinda racist?
Get ready to rock!
Well, we may be the Redneck Riviera, but we do have the “World’s Most Beautiful Beaches.”
Just what the campaign needs - a major shot in the arm. This is absolutely priceless! Lovin’ it!!!! I heard him with Hannity on the radio today.
Here's a shot from the campaign stop...
I guess it is okay to call em rednecks, if you are one yourself. According to the Whoopi Goldberg principle.
Thank you taratarah that is a great sound clip
I am going to send it right to everyone I know.
Absolutely! I have been to PCB beaches every year of my life (relatives live there) and also lived there for a year managing the Pelican II before they bulldozed it and turned it into a golf course.
Redneck Riviera is paradise to me! Softest whitest sand I have ever seen. Siesta Key in Sarasota is the closest I’ve seen to it.
I’m a redneck and don’t find offense to it. Maybe I’m wierd that way. Matter of fact, there is a certain redneck morality I am proud of. Not all of it, but alot. Guns, guts and family. Not too shabby of a way of life.
