The price of gas has changed the equation considerably. This is not about grandstanding as it is about being responsive to the concerns of the American people. Attitudes have changed considerably over the past year about drilling offshore and in ANWR. The Dems have been putting roadblocks on access to domestic supplies of energy for years. Now we have a crisis. You can’t compare what was happening in 2006 to today.

Too bad they didn’t think this all out. They should drive down to the Capitol building in Williamsburg or drive up to Philadelphia. I vote for Williamsburg. They can let the cameras in there.

If the Dems won’t show up to do their job...the American people should pack the chambers over the weekend...we’ll all have a vote...

Folkes we can make this work if we work together in defiance of Pelosi.
Our congressional people who are not there can issue press releases in support of the 30. (see also “the 300”)
A congressman can have a staffer issue a press release in support of the demand for a house vote on the energy bill.
It can become the story the media can not refuse to ignore.
(unlike the edwards affair story)

All I'm saying is they need to get angry without the theatrics. The MSM takes this little protest as a game while Pelosi gets a free pass for leaving Americans high and dry.

FREEREPUBLIC.COM IS THE FIRST AMENDMENT IN ACTION! Which is exactly why the internet, along with talk radio, will be squarely in the crosshairs should the Democrats command the White House and a veto-proof majority in the Senate next session.
As if you don't need another reason to vote for McCain (gag), a Republican Senator (double gag) and a Republican Congressman.

Let me get this straight: We Republicans controlled the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives for six years in a row Gas was affordable up until Pelosi took office. It can certainly be argued that the GOP lacked the foresight to see this price escalation, but unfortunately, the country was busy responding to 9/11 and fighting wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, all the while dealing with domestic obstacles put up by the Defeatocrats.
