Meghan McCain: "I Almost Registered as a Democrat"
usmagazine.com ^ | July 31, 2008

Posted on 07/31/2008 6:02:47 PM PDT by Free ThinkerNY

Republican presidential candidate John McCain's daughter Meghan is just 23-years-old, but she's had her own political evolution.

"I almost registered as a Democrat to be rebellious, but I registered as an Independent instead," she tells Glamour in its September issue. "Then my dad bragged about it, so it backfired."

Meghan, a self-described "total daddy's girl," registered as a Republican as a Father's Day gift last month.

Though she's been crossing the country by bus to help the campaign, she takes issue with parts of the GOP platform.

"I don't relate to the hard right," she admits. "I think it's time to reinvent the Republican Party. And I think my dad can do it."

JR - Honey, assuming you ever had them, it appears you lost yours long ago. Core conservative values, that is.... keep you around for target practice

JR - should seriously think about changing your party affiliation

Could you sink any lower in your insults? It’s like I said, you’re uncouth. I don’t talk to people who are as hopelessly uncouth like you, good night!

So now you're responding to me to tell me that you're not going to respond to me? I know you're still practicing, but you should really consider broadening your vocabulary a bit, so you can make your points in a slightly more effective manner.

Rude would work. Boorish is a good one too. Perhaps a little more attention to detail like that and people wouldn't think you were such a...well, never mind...we wouldn't want to be uncouth, now would we?

Go ahead and drink the koolaid RINO. Take your dribble to du why you are at it.

Folks at DU don't support John McCain. They don't vote Republican. They support Barack Obama.

Is English your native tongue?

I’m making a list here of all who must tell us, ad nauseum, that they will not vote for McCain. If and when the day comes our military is forced to salute a President Obama, I swear to God you’d better not come on this site and start bitching...I mean that.

1. Please add me to your list.

2. If Obama is elected, I will come here and bitch. What do you intend to do about it?

I’m really, really glad that Mccain doesn’t need my vote.

Neither one of the leftists are getting it, that’s for sure.

I think I will write in George Washington.

Oh yes, factoring in what some candidate's twit-headed young daughter says to make an important decision as to who to vote for. I'd like to thank you for summing up why people like me can't take you seriously.

The point is not the political views of his daughter.. the point is that his daughter said 'i'm a liberal, and its important that the GOP be re-made in my dad's image' i.e. she is saying that her dad is a liberal. she knows him better than you do.

What do I intend to do about it? This is between you and your God...If you can knowingly choose an action that would enable that outcome, and you can still live with yourself...good luck. You won’t need my scorn, you will be carrying that scorn within yourself. How do I know? I voted for Perot. This is 1000 times worse.

Why do that?

There might be a group of Electors on your ballot pledged to a Conservative or Small Government candidate.

If you are a conservative, would you not consider that, or at least go to their website or visit a campaign office and ask some questions?

Well then, you’re an idiot if you believe President Obama would be better than a President McCain. There’s no other word for it ...except, perhaps, arrogantly dangerous.

I call it being a stupid cry-baby. There is no other way to put it. Their candidate did not win the primary so lets continue with a temper tantrum.

At this point if you still refuse to vote for McCain over Obama, you should not be voting at all period ...

Thanks for your (feeble) effort at pop-psychology, but it is just not that simple.

Why don't you vote for Obama?

Why not?

Because he is a stinking liberal, that's why. And I accept that excuse.

When it comes to McCain, HE HAS CHANGED NOTHING since his primary campaign days and his voting and acting record before. NOTHING.

That makes him, too, STILL a liberal in my book.

Uh, I don't vote for LIBERALS.

Got it?

McCain crosses party lines all the time.

For him and his supporters to get their knickers in a bind over me doing the same thing, is the heighth of hypocrisy.

McCain supporters can NOT insist we stay with the Republican Party, at least on the Presidential line of the ballot, if there is actually a conservative choice.

McCain supporters can insist. Who says they cant? The gang of 25 who feel McCain isn't conservative enough to get your vote?

Where is this actual "conservative choice" I hear you talk about? Bob Barr? Ha.

The moderate and liberal wings of the republican party don't seem to understand that yes, compromise is required in politics, but you can only compromise to a certain extent before you are chewing away at the edges of the very fiber that a conservative is made from

Compromise is needed in politics no matter what unless you have an absolute majority. (Which is not going to happen, as the country is pretty much equally divided in political views and the fringe from both sides of the aisle seem to be able to make the loudest noises ;-) ...)

If you have two groups of people who stick to their principles and who refuse to compromise on anything at all, there will be nothing accomplished, and they will have failed in their duty to do anything for the people that elected them.

Not compromising while not having an absolute majority gets nothing accomplished in todays politics. Attack, Spin, do whatever ... to sweep the above statement under the rug is to throw away common sense.

John McCain as POTUS will be a good choice for president out of the choices we have.

When I leave the polling station, I will be proud of my vote for John McCain.

How hard is that to say? Not very hard at all?

To all you so called "perfect conservatives", (and I use that word very loosely) how are you going to feel on election day when you pull the trigger for the perfect 3rd party candidate and Obama is elected.

I already know the answer: I voted for conservatism, I didn't compromise, the Republicans lost the election because of the nominee, What about us, the real conservatives, we are the party ...

Arguing with the "perfect conservatives" over John McCain is like arguing with a brick wall. The outcome is not going to bring you anything but frustration and a headache.

I'd rather watch paint dry at this point.
