a) A person who is a national of the United States whether by birth or naturalization, shall lose his nationality by voluntarily performing any of the following acts with the intention of relinquishing United States nationality-

Key phrase. You have to prove that he or his mother intended to relinquish his US nationality and citizenship. No proof of intent, no loss of citizenship.

I wonder, on the form his mother and father would have to have filled out, is there a box to check off which provides intent to apply for Indonesian Citizenship by nullifying all other possible citizenshipsm of their son?

Under Indonesian Law once you are adopted you lose all citizenship rights to your country of origin.

Obama’s mother knew that and knew that she was relingishing her parental rights over her son when she allowed him to be adopted in Indonesia

She then turned her back on this country and lived there the rest of her life.

That sounds like she had the intent of relinquishing her citizenship as well as her son’s.

Simple question somewhat related, is Obama’s half sister an American Citizen or is she Indonesian?
