Bring peace, love and understanding to her family.
We pray for this in your name.
Prayer for your husband. Don’t let the hospital try to intimidate you. Tell them you will pay what you can, when you can. If they are threatening to take your home, talk to your lawyer.
*big hugs* and many prayers for your husband’s recovery.
I’m so sorry! I pray that God will heal your husband and meet all of your needs.
i know from past experience that hospitals will work with you, and as long as you pay something on a regular basis, you’ll be fine.
They don’t want your home.
My heartfelt prayers.
Prayers up! Check with your priest or pastor - they may be able to put you in touch with someone who can give you sound realistic financial advice at this time.
Praying for your husband, your family, and your situation.

Our prayers are with you. Trust that God too is with you, your husband and your family, now and always. Go to God and find His Peace.
I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. You’ll certainly get my prayers. Please take the advice of the FReepers that told you to contact a lawyer. They can’t threaten you like that...don’t stand for it. (((hugs))

Aside the prayers, get all your assets into a living trust as quickly as possible.
He had a stroke on SUNDAY, and the hospital is already threatening to take your house?
Prayers sent.
Prayers up for Dom, Patricia Mary...hoping a full recovery is in the very near future.
Prayers for you and for your husband’s recovery-
and for your peace of mind.
(the hospital can’t take your house.)
My naive suggestion:
1. Sign nothing (until you’ve seen a lawyer)
2. Get a lawyer, even though you’re not “seniors”, maybe an “elder law”
specialist has experience in dealing with hospitals going after patient assets.
AND
3. See if you can get the deals that the Amish in Pennsylvania arrange
with Penn. hospitals.
About a month ago (in a Saturday issue), The Wall Street Journal had
a sizeable article about the sweet deals some Amish get from hospitals
in Pennsylvania.
Under one program, IIRC, about 50 Amish have gotten FREE liver transplants.
And one Amish farmer had held onto his farms and negotiated sizeable
reductions in bills, many of them for his kids that need LOTS of care
due to genetic problems.
(The article was pretty balanced...it did make it clear the Amish were
getting amazing discounts...and also mentioned that the hospital
administrators were still making $$$$$$$$ and the hospitals weren’t
going belly-up by extending these sort of terms)
Prayers on the way.
Prayers up! Don’t see how they can threaten when you haven’t even been sent a bill that you have so much time to pay. Keep your chin up and don’t take any crap from the hospital management. Contact a local attorney, explain what happened, and let him talk to hospital management and bet they back down.
One other important thing: The hospital social worker will provide you with paperwork (some even help you fill it out) to apply for government medical assistance as well as hospital's own financial assistance. A family friend went through similar situation when her toddler daughter had Leukemia. They still have their house and their daughter, thanks to God and the dedicated and skilled doctors.
