Wasn’t there just a big bunch of indictments announced in Ohio, involving mostly Dems? Add this to the Ford problems in Tennessee, and (possibly) issues arising in NOLA, and you have the need to find a Republican bad guy for balance.

You nailed it. Those were exactly my thoughts on the timing of this. Not that I don’t believe Stevens deserves to be indicted, just that the timing is very suspicious...and convenient.
