Is U.S. Bioterror Attack Just A Matter of Time?
The overriding question is whether the U.S. is “ready” for a bioterror attack. The answer could well rely on the “other” question of what bio-agent and what’s the source? In 1991, 40,000 Russian scientists dispersed throughout the World, with knowledge of what the U.S.S.R. was doing in chemical and biological weapons. The question is to whom did they sell their knowledge? Some believe former Soviet scientists sold technology to countries like Iran, Syria, and North Korea. Lurking is the spectre of al-Qaeda, a group that the Pentagon says continues to pursue biological weapons.
Another scenario is an outbreak of a pandemic. How would the U.S. deal with an infectious disease outbreak? The picture, despite reassurances, is not pretty. Until now, the U.S. has experienced two major biological attacks.
In 1984, the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and his followers attempted to take over the town of the Dalles, Oregon by contaminating salad bars in the town. In 2001, there was the as yet unsolved mystery of the anthrax letters that killed five people.
But the question of bioterrorism extends to potential threats against our food supply and our clean water resources. It also extends to the threat of outbreaks of diseases in our animals populations. Here, the concern are diseases that attack animals but that can jump to humans. These are referred to as zoonotic diseases. The World Health Organization defines zonnotic diseases as:

THE CRIME
Clark Rockefeller is wanted for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of his daughter, Reigh. On July 27, 2008, law enforcement officials responded to an incident which had occurred in the Back Bay/South End area of Boston, Massachusetts. A social worker who was hired to oversee a supervised visitation of Clark and Reigh informed law enforcement personnel that Rockefeller had grabbed his daughter and jumped into a black sport utility vehicle (SUV) which had arrived on the scene and was being driven by an unknown male driver. The social worker attempted to hold onto the vehicle as it sped away, was dragged a short distance, and then let go. He was treated for minor injuries.
A state arrest warrant was obtained for Clark Rockefeller on July 27, 2008, and he was charged with custodial kidnapping, assault and battery, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. A federal arrest warrant charging Rockefeller with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution was obtained on July 28, 2008.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Smoking appears to have sparked a fire that caused $70 million in damage to the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington, Naval officials said Wednesday.
The announcement by the Navy came as Adm. Robert F. Willard, commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, relieved the carrier’s commanding officer, Capt. David C. Dykhoff, and the executive officer of duty, Capt. David M. Dober.

ISNA and MPAC Seek to Silence Steven Emerson at Congressional Hearing

As mentioned in Andrew Cochran’s July 28 posting, the Investigative Project on Terrorism’s (IPT) counterterrorism leader Steven Emerson will be testifying on Thursday July 31 at a Congressional hearing on “Foreign Aid and the Fight Against Terrorism and Proliferation: Leveraging Foreign Aid to Achieve U.S. Policy Goals.” This hearing will take place at the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade this Thursday at 10:30 AM ET in room 2200 of the Rayburn House Building.
In the past day, however, the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) have been working on a public relations campaign to silence Steven Emerson at this July 31 hearing. ISNA sent out an “Urgent Action Alert” to its membership calling for them to lobby Congressman Brad Sherman to either have “balanced, qualified testimony”... [or demand that] “the session be canceled.” MPAC sent a similar letter to Congressman Brad Sherman and also issued “demands” calling for its membership to lobby for silencing Steven Emerson or for Congress to “cancel or postpone” the hearing. ISNA charges Steven Emerson with “Islamaphobia” [sic] and “hate mongering,” while MPAC charges Steven Emerson with “bigotry.” Not surprisingly, ISNA and MPAC don’t support their accusations with any facts or specifics, just ad hominem name-calling to silence and discredit those who speak out against Jihad.
As reported tonight, Congressman Sherman refused to buckle under such lobbying efforts stating that “[t]his hearing will go on. We need to make sure that the State Department is not giving U.S. tax dollars to those on the other side in the war on terrorism.”
ISNA’s and MPAC’s efforts to either silence Steven Emerson or ensure that an “expert” hand-picked by such pro-Islamic supremacist groups provides “balanced” [sic] testimony should be another wake-up call that such groups seek to not only impact the debate on Jihad and Islamic supremacist terrorism, but also control that debate entirely. Yet ISNA and MPAC remain unwilling to be accountable for their own organizations’ and members’ actions, statements, and ideological support.
Both ISNA and MPAC have a lot to explain about their own organizations and members.
ISNA remains an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terror retrial scheduled for August 18. But a few weeks before the retrial, ISNA’s court-appointed attorneys now seek to delay the retrial, claiming that “they haven’t been paid enough to present a good defense.” Could that have anything to do with ISNA’s legal defense’s inability to challenge the authenticity of documents linking ISNA to the Hamas terrorist organization?
ISNA is also in the process of preparing for its annual 2008 convention scheduled to start on August 29, where it has announced that it will have such speakers as:
— Muzammil Siddiqi - Steven Emerson reports that “when Siddiqi was President of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) in 1997, his organization received special thanks from Hamas leader Mousa Abu Marzook, who wrote that ISNA supported him through his jailing and extradition process, writing that such efforts ‘consoled’ him.” The report points out, “Siddiqi has made numerous pro-jihad statements in the past and has denied that 9/11 was carried about by Muslims.” Muzammil Siddiqui has been a member of Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA), whose members have been connected to Islamic extremism and terrorism.
— Siraj Wahhaj - a character witness for convicted 1993 World Trade Center terrorist “blind sheik” Omar Rahman, and a man who reportedly called for replacing the American government with a caliphate. This same Islamic supremacist Siraj Wahhaj is currently promoting ads for the New York subway system to “teach” people about Islam.
— Abdallah Idris Ali - has been on the board of the American Muslim Council, an organization whose leaders have openly supported terrorist groups, such as Hamas
— Ihsan Bagby: “we [Muslims] can never be full citizens of this country... because there is no way we can be fully committed to the institutions and ideologies of this country.”
— Zaid Shakir: “Every Muslim who is honest would say, I would like to see America become a Muslim country”
— CAIR’s Nihad Awad - historical supporter of Hamas terrorist group: “I am in support of the Hamas movement”
— ISNA’s Ingrid Mattson - charges that right-wing Christians “are really anti-semitic. They do not like Jews”
Yet ISNA dares to charge others with “hate mongering,” while they cannot address their own organizations’ statements, speakers, and activities.
ISNA is well aware of the history and criticism of such speakers, and the challenges to ISNA that these individuals represent an Islamic supremacist viewpoint. It is not a surprise to ISNA. ISNA simply does not care. They believe that they can bully public opinion to accept such Islamic supremacist ideologues, like it or not. Moreover, ISNA feels sufficiently empowered to try to silence those who would address the truth about the ISNA organization, such as Steven Emerson.
MPAC also has failed to address its leader’s links to publications defending Islamic supremacist terrorist Osama Bin Laden. MPAC spokeswoman Edina Lekovic was managing editor for Al-Talib when it instructed Muslim readers to “defend our brother” Osama bin Laden, and “refer to him as a freedom fighter, someone who has forsaken wealth and power to fight in Allah’s cause and speak out against oppressors. We take these stances only to please Allah.” Edina Leckovic was named as MPAC’s point of contact on a recent article by MPAC praising efforts by the government agencies to create a terror lexicon where the use of “Jihad” would be forbidden.
MPAC has lobbied to remove Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and Hizballah from U.S. terrorist group listings. For the past three years, MPAC has had a campaign to attack Steven Emerson. But MPAC is unable to respond to questions about its own organization.
The challenge by groups like ISNA and MPAC is not merely their efforts to silence Steven Emerson. Their challenge is really to any American who dares to speak the truth about Jihad, Islamism, and Islamic supremacism. Groups such as ISNA and MPAC may or may not silence any one individual. But we must make it clear to Islamic supremacists everywhere that they will never silence all of us who will defy the ideology of supremacism that is inimical to our freedoms, our values of equality and liberty, and our nation.

Self proclaimed terrorist expert Steven Emerson is scheduled to testify this Thursday, July 31st, in a congressional hearing entitled “Foreign Aid and the Fight Against Terrorism and Proliferation: Leveraging Foreign Aid to Achieve U.S. Policy Goals.” Emerson has a formidable history of attacking Islam and Muslims in America under the guise of his alleged expertise. Those familiar with Emerson’s legacy state his lack of credentials in foreign aid and foreign policy and are concerned that his testimony will feed Islamaphobia.
The Islamic Society of North America encourages it members and all Americans to contact Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA), chairman of the “House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade”, convener of the panel, and request that balanced, qualified testimony be included in the panel or the session be canceled. MPAC Demands Congressman Sherman Ensure Credible Testimony or Postpone Hearing

Today, the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) released a letter urging Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA) to either provide credible experts at an upcoming hearing on foreign aid, or postpone the hearing until credible experts can be found.

Congressman Brad Sherman, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade, will call on self-proclaimed “terrorism expert” Steven Emerson to testify at the congressional hearing. Emerson, who has a proven track record of anti-Muslim bigotry, is not a credible expert on foreign aid or foreign policy.
MPAC’s letter calls for the Congressman to “ensure that those who are relied upon for knowledge have the requisite expertise, experience, and nuanced outlook. In the interest of maintaining a good balance of views, we urge you to include an additional panelist from an NGO, university, or think-tank that can represent the positive role of civil society organizations in challenging terrorism. If, however, you cannot find any other witnesses that can balance the current witness panel, we request that you cancel or postpone panel until such time as the committee is able to convene an unbiased slate of witnesses.”

Complete information chaos is reigning in these hours concerning the
recent assassination attempts against Kadyrov.Actually dozens of
russian and chechen websites report about it and numerous sources and
rumours give many different versions of what happened.All in all one
can say,that this is a complete chaos,however it´s sure,that a whole
series of attacks against Ramzan was carried out in the last seven
days,so far all of them unsuccessful.
It´s only known,that so far more
than a dozen of pro-and anti-Kadyrov bodyguards were killed in the
diverse attempts and ensuing shootouts.
If the information is true,in
the last seven days at least three bodyguards opened fire at
Ramzan,but failed to kill him.
Many chechen sources meanwhile confirm,that a large mutiny against
Kadyrov is underway in his own ranks.According to chechen sources for
example many close relatives of Kadyrov fled from Khosi-Yurt in the
last days and joined the mujahideen in the nearby forests.
Also confirmed is the fact,that Kadyrov is now hiding on secret
locations with mainly ethnic russian bodyguards from diverse “russian
Spetnatz-units”,because actually Kadyrov does not trust anyone in his
own chechen bodyguard unit and family.
Russian sources like “MK.RU” also confirm,that indeed Kadyrov found
two letters from Dokka Umarov with severe warnings on his toilet
together with some cartridges.
Shortly after Kavkazcenter presented
this story some weeks ago,all russian media were joking about it and
accused Kavkazcenter of “crazy lies and propaganda”.

The possibility of the involvement of Dawood Ibrahim, the Indian mafia
leader, living in Karachi,in the serial blasts in Uttar Pradesh in November
last year, in Jaipur in May last, in Bengaluru on July 25 and in Ahmedabad
on July 26 needs to be looked into for the following reasons:
The so-called Indian Mujahideen, which has claimed responsibility for these
incidents first made its appearance after the judgement was delivered by a
Mumbai court last year awarding severe sentences in the case relating to the
Mumbai blasts of March,1993. The March 1993 blasts were organised by Dawood
Ibrahim with the help of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Many
of those convicted in the case were his close associates.
All the blasts, which have taken place since November last, have involved
the mobilisation of considerable human and material resources.
This is so particularly in Gujarat. There were 20 blasts in Ahmedabad. In
Surat, 17 unexploded improvised explosive devices (IED) have been found
after the Ahmedabad blasts. Normally, terrorists follow the principle of one
perpetrator for planting one IED. That means, there were at least 37
perpetrators. Normally, each perpetrator has at least one person to provide
the back-up support.Thus, it is estimated that the total number of
individuals involved must have been at least 70 plus.
The group, which was involved in the terrorist strikes in Gujarat, was
reported to have procured or stolen at least three motor vehicles in Mumbai
and brought them to Gujarat. Two of these were used in Ahmedabad and one
with some LNG cylinders was found in Surat.
The mobilisation of such a large number of people plus the procurement of
the motor vehicles would have involved considerable expenditure. Only Dawood
Ibrahim would have had such resources and the ability to mobilise such a
large number of people.
If he had orchestrated these strikes, where did he get these men
trained——in Pakistan with the ISI’s help as he did before March 1993 or in
India? In March 1993, he used only Indian Muslims for carrying out the
blasts.
In March 1993, he got all the material for the blasts from the ISI. This
time, the material would appear to have been procured in India.
3.An intriguing aspect is why all the IEDs planted in Surat did not explode.
Some reports have said that it was because of the rains.The IEDs in Surat
must have been planted at the same time as those in Ahmedabad. On July 26,
when the blasts took place in Ahmedabad, there were no rains, which came
only the next day. If the rains were the reason for the failure, the IEDs in
Surat must have been timed to explode a day after the blasts in Ahmedabad.
4. The other possibility is that the terrorists deliberately did not want
the Surat IEDs to explode and wanted the police to remain preoccupied with
defusing them so that they can carry out blasts in some other town. (

Hmm, now this isn’t such a big surprise to find that members of the Workers’
World Party, notorious for organizing “peace” rallies in their front groups,

Israel’s destruction. Isn’t this an exposure of how neo-Nazis would also
agree with that same sentiment as well? That really, what’s going on here,
isn’t for the rights of Palestinians or Lebanese, but rather to use them in
a Hitlerean-style in promoting Israel’s destruction. This has nothing to do
with peace whatsoever.

Southern Californians Urged to Join Largest Earthquake Drill in U.S. History
The magnitude 5.4 earthquake that rocked southern California on July 29, 2008, is about 5,000 times smaller than the magnitude 7.8 earthquake depicted in the “ShakeOut Earthquake Scenario.” This new report is a portrayal of what could happen in a major earthquake on the southern end of the San Andreas Fault. The scenario is the basis of the Great Southern California ShakeOut, a week of special events featuring the largest earthquake drill in U.S. history on November 13, 2008. Details are at www.ShakeOut.org.
“Yesterday’s earthquake was a wake-up call - a reminder to us to make the important changes we need to survive the inevitable,” said Dr. Lucy Jones, of the U.S. Geological Survey, who led the group of over 300 experts who detailed the expected consequences of a hypothetical magnitude 7.8 earthquake that starts at the Salton Sea and ruptures northward along the San Andreas fault for 190 miles.
With 22 million people living and working in southern California, a major earthquake in the region could cause an unprecedented catastrophe. What we do now, before a big earthquake, will determine what our lives will be like after. With large earthquakes an inevitable part of their future, Southern Californians must act quickly to ensure that disasters do not become catastrophes.
With a goal of at least 5 million participants, the ShakeOut drill will be the largest in U.S. history. To participate, go to www.ShakeOut.org/register and pledge your family, school, business, or organization’s participation in the drill. Registered participants will receive information on how to plan their drill, connect with other participants, and encourage a dialogue with others about earthquake preparedness. There are many ways to take part, but at the least participants should “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” at 10 A.M. on November 13. It all begins with registering, which is free and open to everyone.
